Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,
Someone was showing me videos of their little girl (3 years old or so) and they had taken the videos and added all sorts of effects (like flying, disappearing etc) so while I watched out I asked the technical details as to which applications they used to add the effects to the videos (shot on the mobile) etc.
This person is a technical Guru and it took them hours and hours of playing around to get grainy, smudgy rudimentary videos.
When I look around the Internet (youtube in particular) I see many professional and competent Muslims struggling editing videos and adding effects, they work on it diligently until they have 1-2 effects which they Master and then they recycle it, see HanafiFiqhChannel etc.
Yet when you see Jihadi videos, they are superbly shot (choreographed), expertly edited and dubbed with excellent subtitles? And then the circumstances around the certain episodes are incredulous, consider Boko Haram:
- Abducted 200 girls
- Transported them to a remote location (somehow managed to hide that)
- Dressed them up in Abayas
- Gave backdrops of Flags and guys with AK47's
- Superbly crafted video messages
All in a developing country with rudimentary technical skills, patchy media.
Then I look at TTP (Tehrek-e-Taliban Pakistan), their PDF, magazine, videos, press conferences are SO FAR ahead of the rest of the Deobandees of Pakistan that its unreal! In a country where Deobandees have major resources and expertise, a movement surrounded in secrecy and obscurity, hiding from authorities and being hunted down is able to issue superbly crafted press releases (in Urdu, English and Arabic), do great media Interviews and their magazines and pdf’s are a million times better than any other Deobandi production in the country.
Why is that?
