Mashallah brother abc how was the naqshbandi ijtimah. I was going to come and did see the gathering but these days working on the concept of tauhid e matlab so did not attend. Personally the way i see his stance is that he's neither here or there wrt supporting the actual video's content...his support is more for the intentions they had and the situation, as he sees it, of the present day youth*.

*in terms of youth i do know back in the days when i was a young teen all of us also more or less thought our parents, elderly, ustads, imams etc also didnt have a clue of our 'modern' lives and so couldnt relate/connect to us etc.....then of course a few years go by and everyone grows up from being a hip/cool/'modern' kid.

i've only commented a few times over the past week on some FB posts related to this but haven't over the past few days. its a fad that'll blow by ...kinda like when Radical Middle Way (RMW) first 'burst' on to the scene. Spending some time on the net this video seems to have strong connections with Rumi's Cave (hippy crowd), many Islam Channel presenters and those scholars with past/current connections with RMW....so i wont be suprised if this is a kinda re-birth for RMW (or the same backers/funders/supporters).

I was referring to Shaykh Abdul Hakim Murad, I don't think that he is sitting on the fence he is very clearly making his views public where he wants to and using sophistry where he wants to; advantage of being a philosopher while Allah (SWT) commands us to speak clearly and in unambiguous terms.

This is the sort of answer he gave to Deobandees when they asked him, "Are you a Barelwee"?

Its a stupid question and very easy to duck out of, why would you pose this sort of ridiculous question to a Convert White Middle Class Philosopher in "Middle England"?

Sorry! I've a lot of respect for Mufti Abdur-Rahman [HA], but I think his comment was too lenient and not strict enough. It seems like he doesn't want to hurt anyones feelings, the video is a serious distortion of our Deen. And about Shaykh Murad: He wants to "begin an ijtihad discussion about this clip"???? Subhan'Allah!
