How come an overhwhelming majority of Imams, Ulamah, Mashaykh in Islam have been Non-Arabs? To this day a significant portion of Ulamah (worldwide) even Salafi ones remain Non-native Arabic speakers?

What is the explaination?

Number of Non-Arab Muslims is much greater than Number of Arab Muslims.

Most Arab Ulamah acknowledge it because it is factual.

I think Allah (SWT) wants to show the world that there is no such thing as superiority based on race in Islam.

Two reasons:

1. The demographic of Arabs Muslims are much less than non Arab Muslims. It's been like that throughout Islamic history.

2. Based on the system that Allah Ta'ala has made in Deen: If anyone turns away from making effort of Deen, Allah will raise another nation that will.

Tafsir from Anwarul Bayan of Surah Muhammad, page 591.

Yes I agree Arab Ulamaa acknowledge it. I mentioned "Arabs" in general. It just made me wonder because they would only be familiar with their scholars not knowing about many others unless they're on TV.

I remember reading about Sheikh Sudais praising scholars of Hind (India) highly and actually stating the importance of Urdu and Farsi due to the works of these Ulamaa. I wonder how true that was as this was in the very very early 2000's and reliable sources were not available like now. Anyone know of this?

This is an exaggeration to say the least. I mean people use the example of the scholars of the sihah sitta ( 6 authentic books) but in general scholarship has always been linked to arabs/Arabic. In this day and age the calamity of the Arab world and it's scholars is due to the tawagheet taking over all institutes and not allowing us freedom to teach/practice religion. All those great non-arab scholars would be classified as arabs as they spoke and wrote in Arabic. I find it hard to accept people being great scholars when they don't write in Arabic. Ilm is linked to Arabic books. All our great akabireen who were great in ilm primarily relied on Arabic books and writing Arabic books. Shaykh younis jawnpuri db the greatest muhaddith only reads Arabic books. Hazrat anwar shah rh would mostly read Arabic books, same true for sayyid binori rh. With regards to the situation in the Arab world the blame lies on the tawagheet. Also ALLAH uses different people for different purposes. For some time it was the Turks, before that the central Asians and currently to some extent some indopak people.
