As salaam,

I'm not getting into details as I'm currently in travel and there's not much time on hands, but this is something I wanted to share for about a year now. Only for people who care for advices. Leave it if you don't like it.

When a famous (online) scholar (damath baraka tuhum) visited our city, the *you know who* used him as a bait or so I think for I wish to have husn e zann, I'm saying they used him as I was present in the majlis and saw what conspired in the name of 'islahi' talk aimed at the youth.

I went to our top Mufti (db) one of country's top scholars, very respected by Deoband and its luminaries, author of many books and forget all that, known for taqwa and I said to him what all happened and he said like others have said...

Follow scholars who are known in the community, known for their taqwa etc etc "the normal guidelines" but he said one more thing taking the Quranic aayat as guideline, he advised that follow those scholars who are from a family of scholars, meaning they have been scholars since generations and he said this is the *SAFEST* scenario instead of following those scholars who's background you don't know and get carried away by their speeches.

1. He didn't throw mud on that visiting scholar in fact he defended him by saying these people may have used him as a bait.
2. Even though he is a widely recognized scholar himself (a Mufti in the true sense) he is NOT from a family of scholars. In fact I think he is the first scholar in his 'khandaan'.
3. He recommended me a book of another top scholar on a subject he has also authored books.
4. He is NOT from tabligh / or the tanzeem of tabligh of Nizamuddin.

Can sister habeeba respond to me here on this thread? I got something to say.

WS.

Sister across the world the ulamah of Nizamuddin humbly and constantly advice to people in Tabligh to only speak within the 6 points by referring to Fazail e Aamal, Muntakhab and Hayatus Sahabah. (This is regarding the ladies jam'at post in an other thread) No talking of masa'il in awaam talk only faza'il. Wahdaniyat + Risaalat + Aakhiratt. I will PM you the reference إن شآء الله

A local scholar came with us in Kususi Mulaqat today. He said the same thing but in a different manner..

In the past,
He said that the mother of the kid will drop the kid in the Scholar's house at the age of eight. The kid lives in the scholar's house.
The Kid will complete the books in 2 or 3 years. The rest of the time, he will be monitored for Amal consistency and discipline. Once his Ustad is satisfied with his discipline and Amal, he will send the kid to his home.

The lcoal scholar also said that today's Alims are not Alims. Because the exit criteria is mere reading from Bukhari, Muslim.

Following ulamah who are from a family of ulamahs mashaaikh is the safest option.
That's the lesson.

Good idea, don't bother becoming an alim then if your not from a family of alims.

Not sure if serious.

Reminds me of an ahadith ' towards the end of time the fitnah will arise from the ulema'.

I severely disagree with the above, let me elaborate.
If that's the case then none of the scholars from the sub continent should be followed, as they all have their roots(ancestral background which majority do ) in Hinduism, Buddhism, fire worshipping etc

BRB becoming an alim

BRB being rejected despite having taqwa and adherence to Quran & Sunnah

BRB not from a family of Scholars therefore being dismissed, therefore becoming an alim =waste of time

BRB people sticking to their cults and bootlicking culture

BRB layman thinking what is this ?

BRB becoming Salafi and taking the easy way out, doing own Ijtehad etc

Prophets are chosen from a Noble family...

Does this have any link with scholars raised in family of scholars?

That means we don't have to take seriously or we can dismiss millions of ulama throughout history. Even likes of Abu Hanifah is not immune from dismissal by this wonderful principle
