Don't be sorry.

Good that you've never heard of it. But sadly I did.

I agree with all the rest of what you said.

6 Pages mashaAllah. I haven't read through it fully yet so many this has been mentioned. I remember reading a post in the thread stating that true knowledge is knowledge of Deen only. To an extent this is absolutely correct if one understands the angle.

Dunyawi (worldly) knowledge/expertise (Funoon as stated in earlier posts) is of two types. One actually falls under Ilm-e-Deen although technically it's Dunyawi and the other doesn't.

Science for example is Ilm-e-Deen. Arabic, Grammar, Qur'aan and Ahadeeth are the obvious Ilm-e-Deen which is the stepping stone for all the subject that follow. If a person earns a living from it will not mean it is not Ilm-e-Deen. Many scientists accepted Islam because they were scientists and their knowledge is what helped them discover the amazing miracles of the Qur'aan.

Then there's other knowledges such as (man made) law, or business law which is worldly and on the exterior has no glimpse of Ilm-e-Deen. However, even this knowledge can become Ilm-e-Deen if the purpose of studying it is to recognise what may be Haraam. For example, learning business and banking laws to recognise interest (Ribaa) and educate Muslims of this would be Ilm-e-Deen.

Many scholars of the past were and even a handful of strict scholars today are highly educated in Dunyawi Funoon for the sake of Ilm-e-Deen. Mathematicians, scientists, astronomers, medicine etc were just some fields mastered by great scholars of the past. There was an excellent thread here about this.

The message therefore is knowing how to apply all aspects of studies and knowledge to Deen.

السّلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته

Before proceeding I wish to know how many of the commentators on the thread know to read Urdu and have read the scans given in post # 1 fully at-least once?

In compliance with your request.

  1. I am fluent in Urdu (reading, writing and speech)
  2. I read it before starting my  (unfortunate) disagreements
  3. I read it in the middle
  4. I read it again, now.

Jazakallahu Khayran

Is this the kind of attitude people have when they become engrossed in topics such as those in your signature, or was is it a sarcastic remark. Nevertheless, appalling!

Maybe a decent half hearted request of simply answering would have been enough. But to ask someone to "leave" is not nice. Thats just my opinion.

I know "How" to read Urdu. Your question was directed to those who "had" participated.

The answer to your next question, no I haven't read the scans and now don't intend to, so I will "leave."

Then shame on you and may Allah destroy your vanity for many people have opined freely here without knowledge of the language (not ref to all) and said things totally out of context when these words were of a scholar widely recognized by the ahlus sunnah scholars and all this while being a mod you didn't feel it right to say anything..and my asking br Muadh to answer a simple question and leave without his holy explanations gets your goat?

The least you could have done is to ask members to wait for my full translation and then opine and this is why I'm asking. To hell with such opinions.
