At the moment we have no cure for cold anyways so this Hadeeth is also inline with another Hadeeth predicting that every illness except death has a cure. In our times we can't treat cold we simply treat the symptoms.

Eating Kalonji is a cure for every disease or illness except death and if there is no cure for cold then that in effect means cold is NOT an illness at all..actually cold is a cure for leprosy. This is what I understood.

From my knowledge you treat the symptoms as Muadh saab stated...colds are viral and they will run there course you will get worse before better Inshaa Allaah....if any bacterial infections are present antibiotics will be issued. (This of course is from a non Islamic view) Viruses usually last 3 to four days depending..

I have found Lemon grass to be very beneficial for treating cold..i was down with cold visiting my sister.. she served me something called TumYam soup.. when i reached back home i felt better.. asked her what she put..said lemon grass..

This is what Dr Google told me.." Lemongrass, noted for its use in Thai cooking, is a delicious herb and a remarkable natural healer. In eastern cultures, lemongrass has long been used to treat fever, flu, headaches and to aid digestion.

Lemongrass for headache and migraine relief

One of the most common medicinal uses of lemongrass traditionally has been for headache relief.

Now it's been proven to be at least as effective as aspirin - only safer. A five year study of plants used in traditional medicine recently reported in Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medicine that lemongrass shows similar activity to aspirin in treating headaches and migraines."

so a nice cup of lemon grass Tea works wonders now Alhamdulillah..

wa Assalam.

Pathans always put Lemon Grass in their green tea and while the Chinese don't. You can see the Ameer of Chinese Jamaats carrying Green Tea and Ameer Saheb distributes it during Khurooj and everybody drinks it.

The Ameer carries sticks of Green Tea which the Ameer Saheb cuts with a knife and they put it in water, its part of their culture to carry these sticks.
