(salaam)

I had few weeks back said to sis Acacia regarding not treating cold for 3 days, here's the reference from Mustadrak Al Hakim via 5 Minute Madrasah, note that it actually says 'for a few days' - also I'll come to the 3 days part, I have to read further into the book or ask Ulamah as there are hundreds of ahadith's in the book, the book itself is about 826 pages, also I can't seem to find Mustadrak Al Hakim in English, so please wait for it, right now, its in Urdu.

Its related from the Mother of the Believers, Hadrath Ayesha Hadith # 8262, in 5 minute madrasah, Pg # 322. Urdu page view: archive.org/stream/SirfPanchMinuteKaMadrasah#page/n0/mode...

Note: If anyone has link for Mustadrak Al Hakim in English, please share.

I don't think Mustadrak Al-Hakim has been translated into English yet. Perhaps you could translate the Urdu for us?

The reason I put the original Hadeeth is that whoever wants to understand can copy/paste into an email OR print it and ask the Ulamah directly. I am not translating because I don't understand the nerve ending in the head (bit).

This is the closest translation I've received from the Urdu text...

There is a vein/artery of leprosy in every humans head that throbs. When it throbs Allah sends a cold.

But after, it states, hakeems etc say, dont treat a cold immediately....

Therefore dont treat a cold straightway but after few days.

Also received following....irrelevant to the translation, but thought I'd share it....

"Do not recognise four things as bad....

Firstly, do not consider it bad when your eyes are sore for its pain prevents blindness.

Secondly, do not complain if you have a cold for it prevents leprosy.

Thirdly, do not think it bad if you have a cough for it eliminates the likelyhood of paralysis.

Fourthly, do not complain if you have sores and spots for these prevent the occurrence of leprosy."

salaam

how does a person treat a cold in the first place? masking the pain with painkillers is not actually treating it. and staying dry and warm and resting when one has a cold is just common sense.
