Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

If there are Muslim women in the local community or Masjid or neighbourhood who are doing something which is against the Sunnah should we (Muslim men) advise them in the presence of another Sister?

Chances are that they will listen and they have no Mahram men to transmit the advice?

My stance is to ignore however some Ulamah say that if they ask you for advise on personal matters then you should advise where you see something contrary to Sunnah.

I am not sure about this so just wondering how do other people behave in similar circumstances?

Jazakullah Khairun

You can get a female mahram of urs to speak to the sister, or perhaps guide to a local alimah

Tuff one to tell really.

I think it would depend on the Sunnah they are going against and whether or not they are practicing other Sunnahs or not.

If they aren't practicing at all, then some local sisters need to come out and preach, if they are practicing and they are going contrary to only a few Sunnah's, then I guess they need to be approached, how is another question.

I once wrote a note down with a Hadith on it and gave it to a random school kid and asked him to pass it on to a certain person so they got the message.

If you try something like that and see a change, then maybe, just maybe you can try it from another angle.

Personally, and I'm being honest. I wouldn't approach any non related sister ever for fear of backlash and even worse, Shaitans whispers. He can destroy us no matter how pious we think we are.

My conclusion: I would be"scared" of the negative consequences. And I only say that because I've seen what can happen. Although one would be able to judge someone if they have seen them before or had interaction before. Age difference would be important too, especially if the persons involved are both young or the same age.

I know you'd rather read a book than..... But still a lot to think about.

I think a sisters point of view is also an important factor. Maybe someone could have something more beneficial to add.

IF for example as a sister, I was approached by random 'pious' man or woman telling me I am doing something against Sunnah. I would feel very humiliated, insulted, or even offended, why?

Because being given advice without asking for it, or wanting to acquire it is against the etiquette of lifestyle we live in today, it's just not done thing.

Before people were humble, kids respected elders, women had a natural modesty where this just doesn't exist or understood anymore. So yes if you don't mind getting physically assaulted, feel free to do dawah to the sisters who you feel are living against Sunnah.

Chances are definitely high that a woman would get offended.
Been in a situation like that.
Grandmother on death bed. I asked my cousin sister to cover hair when visiting. She didn't even reply neither carry it out. And we are close. She looked offended

Yep queenie been there done it, people aren't the same as they use to be, can't say anything to anyone anymore. I tend to wait for a question then answer the question, then milk the opportunity by leading on to related subjects, which leads to other questions, but until the initiation of the first question, it's really a dead end.
