Asslamo Allaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,
A brother emailed me this morning pointing to another thread on another forum which is goading for a response on this issue.
Response was posted on the other forum clarifying that there is no such thing as “Anti Yasmin” brigade. After clarifying it (originally) and afterwards multiple times the brother continues to use that term so it’s between him and Allah (SWT).
I (personally) don’t react to an issue because I am goaded by others (expecting to do something) but after investigating the issue, doing Istikhara and making Mushwara with Ulamah.
There are doubts about Dr Ingrid Mattson and our Ulamah shouldn’t share a platform with her (in my opinion) and I have been unsuccessfully chasing Shaykh Zahir since this was brought to my attention and Br Ariki is trying to seek some clarification from Maulana Suleiman Moola. In addition to trying to seek personal contact, twitter, facebook etc have also been used to try to get an answer but not been successful.
Our efforts will continue and Insha'Allah I will speak to Maulana Zahir and ask for his reasons, give him a chance to respond and inform others.
So without getting a full picture and making Istikhara, Mushwara it is against the Sunnah to react to something and if that gets me labelled as a hypocrite (online) but saves my Aakhira and makes me remain to the path of Sunnah; so be it!
Here is the 10th of September 2013 clarification from the organisers:
As-salamualaikum Brother

Warning to men: This research was conducted by Sisters so we discourage you to click on the youtube links to view the videos presented as evidence
Rest of your contentions are baseless.
Jazakallahu Khayran

Then it would be most unfortunate and you have the right to disagree but allow me to explain.
Muslims in UK need to turn away from looking at issues with a “Deobandi vs Non-Deobandi” slant and learn to evaluate matters objectively.
This Sister is addressing men in makeup, laughing and joking openly and without a barrier. The mode isn’t approved by any Islamic Scholar in history including Shaykh Akram Nadwi (HA) and Shaykh Yusuf Qaradawi (HA) who is used to back up her stance.
Secondly, she isn’t an Islamic Scholar with skills which are so scarce and need so great that accommodations to established rules (agreed upon by Madhahib) need to be bent, she is a motivational speaker.
Our Brother Zayd is very intelligent and he is relying on the gullibility of British Muslims to argue the point that when she is addressing women there shouldn’t be any contention. The stunt is designed to penetrate the mind-set of the British Muslims who are reacting to the lack of options for our women (which I fully agree with). A Muslim women who attends a “women only session” is likely to surf the net and came across examples which are given (in article). Unfortunately, in history we have many examples of how Fitnah is propagated and spread through (seemingly) innocent means.
So yes we have issues with Deobandees (and their cultish) mindset when it comes to imparting Islamic education and knowledge but is the solution to swing the pendulum (forcibly) completely the other way? Should the wrong (of Deobandees being inept) be countered with the wrong of (Zayd/Yasmin Mogahed)?
At the end of the day it is only Allah (SWT) who provides insight to genuinely understand how “Halal” issues can be used to create doubts and push the envelope further (the wrong way!)
Allah (SWT) knows best.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
Please wait...
