Brother, you could've just sent him a PM. Or change the title from @Muadh to something it could be recognised with.

Asslamo Allaikum,

He is proposing that  Edwina Mountbatten had an affair with Muhammad Ali Jinnah (RA) & Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru and due to their enimosity over a woman it led to the separation of India and Pakistan (personal tif).

Some of the things being reported which are false as follows:

  1. There is an age gap Edwina Mountbatten between Muhammad Ali Jinnah (RA)  and of 16 years and there is NO WAY they were college together let alone having an affair
  2. Edwina Mountbatten and Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru had a lot of correspondence as collaborated by Lady Pamela Hicks (daughter of Edwina Mountbatten ) and a lot of these letters are of personal nature so it is possible that they had an affair .
  3. Muhammad Ali Jinnah (RA) & Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru went to two separate colleges so couldn't have met Edwina Mountbatten anyways
  4. Muhammad Ali Jinnah (RA)  wasn't practising and that's true but at some time he became Muslim and his speeches and talks of the last 5-6 years of his life clearly reflect that and his Janazah was performed by righteous Ulamah
  5. There is no doubt that Muhammad Ali Jinnah (RA)  didn't demand Pakistan until 1946 and then demanded a SEPARATE COUNTRY (Pakistan) after the stubborness of  Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru but I am not sure if it was over a woman!
  6. The statement that Balochistan was given to Pakistan by Cyril Radcliffe is also not true! Balochistan was annexed to Pakistan by the majority of tribesman volunatarily by Khan of Kalat

So all in all the facts are:

But to blame one woman Edwina Mountbatten  having affairs with multiple men and leading to India/Pakistan is way of target.

More astonishing to me is this interview by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (RA) in 1946, if this isn't a forgery then it is astounding!

The prisoners of Malta

highly recommend this book, as the uprising in India at the time was related to the partition of both countries India and Pakistan.

About Shaykh al-Hind Maulana Mahmud al-Hasan رحمه الله

During his famous speech at Bahawalpur in 1983, Maulana Zia-ar-Rahman Farooqi رحمه الله narrated the following story concerning events after Hadhrat Shaykh al-Hind Maulana Mahmud al-Hasan’s رحمه الله passing :

Shaykh al-Hind Maulana Mahmud al-Hasan رحمه الله passed away in the year 1921 C.E. The body was lifted from the residence of Hakeem Ajmal Khan who was a well known Hakeem and a disciple of Shaykh al-Hind Maulana Mahmud al-Hasan رحمه الله . It was brought from Delhi to Deoband and when the cloth was removed from the waist for washing, it appeared that there was not flesh nor fat on it. The people began crying. When Sayyad Husain Ahmad Madni رحمه الله , who taught Hadeeth at Darul ‘Uloom Culcutta at the time came, the people related the matter to him. He wept and said, ”Shaykh al-Hind had prevented me from revealing this matter. In the jail of Malta, the British used to take my master to a lonely room and apply a red-hot rod to his waist and say, Mahmud al-Hasan! Deliver a fatwa in favour of the British. ” When he regained his senses he would say, ”O British! I am Bilal’s heir , my skin may melt away but I shall never deliver a fatwa in favour of the british. ”

Asslamo Allaikum,

There are two Schools of thoughts amongst Deobandi Uamah (and politicians):

  1. Shaykhul-Islam (Maulana) Hussain Ahmed Madani (RA)/Majority of Deobandi Ulamah & Tableeghi Jamaat Group: These Ulamah proposed that together and united Muslims of India were in greater numbers so able to exert greater political pressure over Hindus so creation of Pakistan actually divided the Muslims in half (or even further after Bangladesh) so the cause of Muslims & Islam actually got hurt due to creation of Pakistan. Due to the situation at the time, it wasn't possible for Muslim rule to continue in India so the next best option is to keep the Muslims together (united India) as a bloc
  2. Shaykh (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA)/Rest of Deobandi Ulamah Group:The identity of a Muslims is based on his religion and not the land so Muslims are separate and distinct from Hindus and MUST HAVE a separate homeland from Hindus where they have the power and control to implement Shariah. The reason Muslims in India lived united with Hindus is because Islam had upper hand (Government) but if Hindus gain power then the Government will be unIslamic thus making life difficult for the implementation of Shariah. Shaykh (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA) ofcourse passed away long before Pakistan but it was his vision and idea and he backed it all the way.

Their thought process was correct but today we see that the worst possible (nightmare) outcome has occured as follows:

  1. Muslims in India have suffered enourmously because they have become a minority and most of the Muslim areas (Pre-partition) have thinned out due to migration to Pakistan in 1947.
  2. Hindus CANNOT trust Muslims because half of them broke apart India (their motherlands).
  3. There is no Shariah in Pakistan and there is no Khilafah or anything even remotely close to it!
  4. Pakistan is so weak that it can't even defend itself let alone exert pressure on India to safeguard rights of Muslims. Pakistan is a failed state in every sense of the word.
  5. Indian Muslims have no sense of Al-Wala Wal-Bara whatsoever and their situation and Islamic understanding is really pathetic! There is not much difference between American Muslims & Indian Muslims to be honest. The Fiqh of Deobandi British (Indian origin) Ulamah is really a product of Indian way of thinking. Fiqh of Deobandi SA (Indian origin) Ulamah is vastly different and more atuned to the thinking of Pakistani Ulamah, and a person really needs to understand and grasp this point otherwise they will simply argue forever.

1-4 are are the nightmare scenarios foretold by Shaykhul-Islam (Maulana) Hussain Ahmed Madani (RA)

5 is the nightmare scenario foretold by Shaykh (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA)

All of the nightmares are true today for both Indian/Pakistani Muslims but despite the financial, economic (and every other ) disaster which Pakistan is, I really feel for the Indian Muslims and their frame of mind and their Eemaan and I am not a trumpet blowing Pakistani in anyway but the Indian (Muslim) scene is an Islamic disaster. Looking at the situation superficially yes the Indian Muslims have more Shariah in their lives and better Islamic understanding but their understanding of Al-Wala Wal-Bara is truly messed up! Talk to most Indian Muslims in the west (man or woman, Scholar or Laymen) and you genuinly feel like crying!

Shaykhul-Islam (Maulana) Hussain Ahmed Madani (RA) wasn't what the Indian Muslims have become today at all! If only the Indian Muslims have maintained the strength and courage of Hazrat (RA) and lived in India and not compromised...

What we have today is a TRUE NIGHTMARE for both Indian and Pakistani Muslims but of different kinds.

Why is it important to discuss? Because 30% of the Muslims in the world are from subcontinent so that's over 1/3rd of Muslim ummah!

Jazakullah Khairun

Because of Indian vs Pakistani Nationalism and arrogance. But the topic needs to be looked at from a purely Islamic perspective which nobody does to be honest, people pretend to and drag Islam into it.

Islamically the state of Muslims in both India & Pakistan is an epic failure!

Anybody who has spend one day in Pakistan knows that it doesn't really have much to do with Islam at all apart from the name maybe and anybody in India should realise that there is no hope of Islam there either.

People are free to observe outward rituals of Islam in both countries like prayer, Hijab etc but that's about it.
