Insha'Allah with the Taufeeq of Allah (SWT) this one page will be updated monthly with the current and next month's moon sighting news and announcements for Europe/Africa/USA/Pakistan/Saudia

Monthly Moon sighting news

The format is deliberatly kept simple for laymen to read and understand and Insha'Allah current date and predictions in English/Arabic/Urdu will be dispalyed monthly.

On Sunday 9 June 2013 (29 Rajab 1434 AH) many people from throughout the UK have attempted to sight the crescent moon (Hilal) of Shaban after sunset. None of the groups were able to sight the Hilal, even though many places had clear conditions. However, we have received reliable sighting report from (Morocco and) South Africa of a positive sighting. Therefore, the Wifaqul Ulama have decided that the month of Rajab 1434 AH will have 29-days and the month of Shaban 1434 AH will start from Monday 10 June 2013, making the night of 15 Shaban on Sunday 23 June, Insha-Allah. Masnun Du’aa of Rajab/Shaban: اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي رَجَبٍ وَشَعْبَانَ ، وَبَلِّغْنَا رَمَضَانَ Translation: "O Allah bless us in Rajab and Sha’ban and (let us live until we) reach Ramadan." I, alhumdulilla, had the taufeeq to go for an attempt too today after Magrhib....but was too cloudy so couldnt see anything even though the distant horizon was clear.

Sha'baan 1434 Start

1 Europe/UK: Moon was NOT SIGHTED on Sunday the 09th of June 2013.  However, based on positive sighting in Morocco & South Africa the 1st of of Sha'baan (1434) will be on Monday the 10th June 2013.

2 USA: Moon was SIGHTED on Sunday the 09th of June 2013 at several places in mainland USA so the 1st of of Sha'baan (1434) will be on Monday the 10th June 2013.

3 Africa:

a Morocco: Moon was SIGHTED on Sunday the 09th of June 2013 so the 1st of of Sha'baan (1434) will be on Monday the 10th June 2013.

b South Africa:  Moon was SIGHTED on Sunnay the 09th of June 2013 so the 1st of of Sha'baan (1434) will be on Monday the 10th June 2013.

4 Pakistan: Moon was NOT SIGHTED on Sunday the 09th of June 2013 so after completing 30 days the 1st of of Sha'baan (1434) will be on Tuesday the 11th of June 2013.

5 India: Moon was NOT SIGHTED on Sunday the 09th of June 2013 so after completing 30 days the 1st of of Sha'baan (1434) will be on Tuesday the 11th of June 2013 (Chief Qadhi of Chennai)

6 Saudi Arabia: No attempts are made for moon sighting (for this month) so according to Government Decree and Ummul-Qura Calendar 1st of of Sha'baan (1434) will be on will be on Monday the 10th June 2013.
