salamualaikum is gold and silver real money? or is fiat paper money considered real money?should muslims return to using dinars and dirhams or should we keep ourselves on paper money that has no tangable value?

I've been paying close attention to mike maloney's literature on monetary history since 2007. May allah guide this man, he's the best historian ever inregards to monetary history. The information is awesome where mike exposes how the banking system and how it systematically robs people of their wealth through currency creation and transfers it over to richest 1% of the population step by step in detail. Really appreciate this thread, jazakAllah khayran!

I wanted to copy over a really beneficial thread that brother amr123 made on SF (umar123 here). Insha'Allah, it would be fantastic if the brother would do so... I don't want to take credit for all the hard work he put into it. It was a thread about the value of gold and silver and about various amounts donated by sahabah and what it means (in our currency today).

Its just a matter of time before this house of cards comes crashing down on us all. Unfortunately, we're all too heavily connected to it. It isn't impossible though... there are a handful of people (mostly non-Muslims but some Muslims do choose to do so also... most people live without 'money' out of necessity) who actually are living just fine without currency (but they do rely to some degree on others who are using currency... so they will do things like dumpster dive behind grocery stores for food the store throws out because it is over the 'best before' date... without the grocery story supply which is dependent on currency, meh... still doable but not half as easy!)
