The issue of Arabic/Urdu on Android Phones

Asslamo Allaikum,

If you have an Android phone it is likely you will NOT be able to read/write Arabic/Urdu and this is because although Google ships the phone with RTL (Right to Left Support) in UK phones somehow this is stripped out!

At the moment there is no way to add "RTL" to your phone and the simplest thing is to:

• Root Your Phone
• Install ClockWorkMod
• Install CyanogenMod ROM

This will also get rid of all the Junk which the Network (Orange, O2, T-Mobile etc) have put on your phone and also unlock your phone, it will however VOID your warranty.

And if you don't know what you are doing it may SOFT-BRICK your phone.

If you don't want to do so then continue to live with strange letters on your phone when others (with i-phone etc) send you Asslamo Allaikum, Eid Mubarak etc in Arabic...

I BRICKED my phone in the process and had to recover and it took me hours but I am fine now but if something happens to my phone I will have to put the "junk which T-Mobile" installed back on before asking them to fix it.
