Asslamo Allaikum,

You will NOT hear a beep from either the Mashaykh or their Mureeds about the "personal contacts in Saudia of Hazrat" whom they used to:

  1. First verify that 10th of Muharram was on 05DEC2011
  2. Now verify that 10th of Muharram is on 06DEC2011

And in both instances amazingly "Sunnah" was being followed.

Jazakullah Khairun

The Helal Committee London, headed by Shaikhul Hadith Abdul Jalil, decided on Last Friday that Ashura (10th Muharram) will be on Tuesday.

The ulama involved and the people of authority are simply making a mockery of our deen.

I can't be bothered to pass further comments on this issue.

Its NOT OK for anyone to request the Ulamah to clarify the matter

BUT

its OK for people to "lecture you" on how to conduct yourself.

Exactly, double standards.

The ulama teach us the way, then go different ways and leave us debating.

Note: they aren't all like that.

This is how the Salafis talk.

The admin mentions about contacting the Ulamaa first. Before posting all this, has anyone contacted the Saudi following Ulamaa (sorry I don't know much about this. I just go by what the Masjid goes by, if I'm wrong, I say it's on them)

If you have contacted them and did not receive a reply from them then I understand us debating over nothing.

Anyway, since the attacks on our scholars by every type of person, I've actually increased in my respect for them. Sometimes we wonder why we're in this mess. Instead of slating them, how about we write to the Masjids, why are the Masjids there in the first place? Why do we donate to it if they don't provide a service to the Muslims? I'm sure it's illegal for them to even be a registered charity if they don't provide the services.

I agree with ummi taalib on this although I haven't a clue about hizbul uk and moonsighting and the other groups. Didn't even know we had a committee for this

Salaam super glue, man you got a lot of catching up to do. Although I respect your comments but there has been so much we have tried doing for a very long time. But who are we when these groups don't even listen to scholars, Infact these groups are run by scholars who have 2 views.

To cut a long story short, hizbul ulama follow Saudi blindly, and Wifaq ulama follow the moon. Saudi has made countless blunders, after all they are......

My local mosque also follow Saudi in moon sighting. I had emailed them as soon as I found out the news, (which was posted here first), but even then, clarification was needed and it took 24 hours to change the notice board. They had announced Monday to be the 10th, but now it is Tuesday.

Muharram 10 is on Tuesday: Supreme Court

By ARAB NEWS

Published: Dec 3, 2011 21:29 Updated: Dec 3, 2011 21:29

JEDDAH: Muharram 10 is on Tuesday (Dec. 6, 2011) and not on Monday as appeared in the existing calendar, the Supreme Court announced on Saturday.

"As nobody sighted the new Muharram crescent on Saturday (Nov. 26), the first day of Muharram falls on Nov. 27. So Muharram 9 and 10 will be on Monday and Tuesday, respectively," it said.

It is very hard to believe that Saudi have gone "with" Shariah. Alhumdulillah, may Allah make this a turning point in uniting the ummah in at least the moon issue.

@super-glue, Saudi have a fixed Islamic calendar and they don't go against it. Last Ramadhan, they had printed their iftar timetable (which I have posted in a previous thread) a couple of months before, it only had 29 days in it, fixed. No option of a 30th like we have in our calendars. Take a look at some of the previous threads, long discussions have taken place before. (Check Muadhs post on why Eid should have been on the next day)

I did say I won't pass further comments, but I think some may have misunderstood some of the comments by others.

I always thought that announcements to clarify the date would be at the latest on the 2nd of the month. When did Saudi change their mind? I have too many issues myself with Saudi and also believe they'd do this to match schedules or convenience of days (Hoping dearly that I'm wrong)

Does anyone have a template letter or email I can send to my local Masjid?

And finally, [quote]The Ulama involved and the people of authority are simply making a mockery of our deen.
I guess the key word here was "involved" which makes it clear that you're not on anyone's case but those that are involved in this craziness of Islamic months. I do apologise for speaking out (maybe wrongly). But seriously, when will this ever be resolved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Asslamo Allaikum,

Its a dead simple issue.

On the authority of Al-Numan bin Basheer, who said : I heared the messenger of Allah say : "That which is lawful is plain and that which is unlawful is plain and between the two of them are doubtful matters about which not many people know. Thus he who avoids doubtful matters clears himself in regard to his religion and his honor, but he who falls into doubtful matters falls into that which is unlawful, like the shepherd who pastures around a sanctuary, all but grazing therein. Truly every king has a sanctuary, and truly Allah's sanctuary is His prohibitions. Truly in the body there is a morsel of flesh which, if it be whole, all the body is whole and which, if it be diseased, all of it is diseased. Truly it is the heart." (Bukhari/Muslim)

Shaykh (Mufti) Saeed Palunpuri (HA) has already stated that we don't want to discuss intricacies of Saudi sighting system or why or how they make up their mind; we simply want to present to the Ulamah that there is enough doubt in this matter for them to RECONSIDER.

British Deobandees are the ONLY DEOBANDEES in the world who are sticking to Saudi sighting DESPITE Fatwa upon Fatwa to the contrary and ERROR upon ERROR which is manifest and clear. All the rhetoric that "Moon from Makkah & Madina should be followed because it's the holy land" is empty talk because didn't Shaykh (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA), Shaykh (Mufti) Rasheed Ahmed Gangohi (RA) and others knew about this while living a lot closer to Makkah & Madina (physically)?

Why has this "Mas'ala and strange method of respecting Makkah and Madina" only occurred to Sufees of UK?

Recently a Shaykh (from UK) uttered in private "These efforts to take away from Saudi sighting are a plan of the Jews", I ask the Shaykh:

Was Shaykh (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA) also affected by Jews because he didn't follow Saudi sighting?

Were the entire chain of Ulamah of Deoband from 1866 UNTIL TODAY affected by Jews because none of them follow Saudia and in fact expressed dissatisfaction at Saudi sighting?

Was Shaykhul-Hadeeth (Maulana) Zakariyya Kandhalwi (RA) affected by Jews because he expressed dissatisfaction at Saudi sighting while there?

Utter non-nense!

As-salāmu 'alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh

I don't want to start an argument or debate but just posting what I recently read in The Beauty of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam AS REFLECTED IN LECTURES ON ṢAḤĪḤ AL-BUKHĀRĪ (it is available online at inter-islam)

SHAYKH AL-ḤADĪTH MAWLĀNĀ YUSUF MOTALA wrote:
Do Not Lend Support to Religious Differences

A study of history suggests that the exchanges, disagreements and antagonism amongst the scholars have in the past wreaked social chaos, resulting in divided communities throughout the globe. You will have heard me from this pulpit repeatedly advising you against lending support to religious arguments and differences, be it pertaining to moon sighting or the day of ʿĪd. Al-ḥamdu li 'llāh! What a day of happiness it is today! For after a long time, all the Muslims of Great Britain are celebrating ʿĪd on the same day. May this always be the case. If by chance ʿĪd is celebrated on separate days, over two days or three days, then avoid making it an issue and just say that everyone is correct. What is the need to label people as 'wrong' and 'right'.
