Asslamo Allaikum,

This year like every year several Charity organisations have been coming to our Masjid to collect Zakaat, Sadaqah ,Lillah but for the last few years I have been noticing a trend where many of these organisations have glossy posters and HUGE BILLBOARDS which they put up at Masjid entrances and they have pictures of children, men, women (to show the needy).

Most of these organisations’ are run by Authentic & Senior Ulamah and surely some of them must realise that these pamphlets, posters and HUGE BILLBOARDS are often used inside the Masjid (or people take them home).

Recently I saw an organisation (run by a Senior Shaykhul-Hadeeth) with pictures of a fairly young Albanian woman with “NO HIJAB” and receiving aid. Another pictures showed girls (14,15) being taught by Ulamah in Beards and Sunnah.

This is really beginning to annoy me!!!

I know that I may get vilified for criticising but I just CANNOT stand this with the onslaught of photography and pictures in the house of Allah!

Have we forgotten CLEAR AHADEETH of Rasul-ullah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) about pictures?

These are not digitial pictures, they are on PAPER and PHOTOGRAPHS!!!!

WHY IN THE MASJID???

they are probaly in the masjid because a lot of muslims go there and worship to allahسبحانه وتعالى and when they see these pictures they might volunteer to help the needy
or donate,
they have got a chance to know whats happening

Asslamo Allaikum,

Another issue...

I was driving in Birmingham with kids 2-3 days ago and on Coventry Road, there is HUGE BILLBOARD of an old African woman with tears in her eyes and the caption says, “Would you let her starve?”

If this old Muslimah was my mother (or Sister), which she is would I want her misery plastered all over the world for the sake of collecting a few coins?

Would any of us want their pictures on billboards if we were in need? Why not such stick to simple Qur'aan & Ahadeeth abotu Fadhail (virtues) of Sadaqah? Why do we need pictures?

Lets just hope the Guest doesn't say that if the Ulama are doing it, we need to follow as they run things as with the moon debate.

(Mind you, the guest(s) has(have) made some very good contributions. It would be good if they could give them selves a name.)

Dont you think a lot of the donated money goes into these billboards.

There are a few that pay for these costs from their own pockets like UWT. But still, think about it. Is our money reaching the poor and needy or is it paying for the bills the all incure.

There is another poster outside Finsbury Park station and The Muslim Welfare House. This Poster shows another old African woman with the Massive words saying "IGNORE HER" and then a little bit about her loss and misery.

May Allah help all those in need. But again I agree with you brother Muadh. It should not be done.

Quote:
Sincerity & Sunnah - Two Fundamental Requirements For any deed to gain acceptance in the Court of Allāh S, there are two fundamental requirements:

1. The intention must be correct and full of sincerity.

2. One should ensure that the action is in conformity with the teachings of the Prophet s.

The Prophet Sallalahu alaihi wassalam has stated:

Actions depend upon intentions. (Bukhārī, Muslim)

Therefore, the sole objective when performing any deed should be the Pleasure of Allāh S. No matter how attractive and perfect the exterior of a deed appears, if there is no sincerity, then the act will merit no reward. Similarly, if a deed was full of sincerity, yet it failed to conform to the teachings of the Prophet s, it will equally stand rejected and unworthy of any credit.

Once, on the day of 'Īd, a man decided to perform optional ṣalāh in the open ground where the 'Īd ṣalāh was to take place. 'Alī prevented him from doing so, upon which the man said, 'O Leader of the Faithful, I know that Allāh does not punish someone for offering ṣalāh.' 'Alī t said, 'I know that Allāh does not reward an act unless Rasūlullāh Sallalahu alaihi wassalam himself did it or encouraged it. Therefore your (intended) ṣalāh is of no avail, and futile actions are forbidden. Thus, it is feared that Allāh may punish you for opposing His Messenger Sallalahu alaihi wassalam .' (Majālis-al-Abrār)

We should always remember that the way of Rasūlullāh Sallalahu alaihi wassalam is a direct route to acquiring the Love of Allāh Subhanahu wa ta'la and His Forgiveness.

Say, (0 Muḥammad, to mankind): 'If you love Allāh, follow me; Allāh will love you and forgive your sins. Allāh is Oft-Forgiving, Merciful.' (3:31)

Evil Deeds with Good Intentions

One should not misunderstand that good intentions have the potential to transform evil deeds into good ones. An evil deed, regardless of the nature of one's intention, remains evil. The principle that 'actions depend upon intentions' applies only to good deeds.

Overall, deeds can be divided into four categories:

1. Good deeds with good intentions.
2. Good deeds with evil intentions.
3. Evil deeds with good intentions.
4. Evil deeds with evil intentions.

With the exception of the first one, all the other types will be classified as evil and will all contribute towards incurring the displeasure of Allāh Subhanahu wa ta'la and lead one to eternal destruction in the hereafter.

A deed, in this context, can be likened to a passport, with the intention being the visa. If the passport is faulty, then the successful outcome of a visa application will yield no benefit whatsoever, i.e. both the visa and the passport need to be sound

Taken from Sincerity of Intention by Shaykh Muhammed Saleem Dhorat

Excellent topic and I agree with you 100% - cannot fault any feeling in this topic.

We organised a football tournament under a registered charity a few months ago to work towards the youth in Newham (open to all Muslims and non-Muslim).

We sent posters to all the schools in Newham, a few churches and Masaajid. I won't name the Masjid but this Masjid did not say "no" to us. We put it up, a few hours later at Salaah time, we saw that it was gone.

After asking about it, we were told by the caretaker that one of the "comittee guys" took a few posters down.

So we put up another one (with permission). No exaggeration but once it was gone the following day.

We made sure that the poster had NO people or faces or anything Haraam at all.

The worst part was, I saw posters on that board with photos of children and they have those type of posters till today. I was quite disgusted especially when the committee could not tell me directly who kept remioving it like a kid having fun.

Terrible!

I don't think you understand the purpose of this topic. They have HARAAM posters (containing people including women without purdah) on huge posters in the HOUSE OF ALLAH. This is not about donations. People have been giving Sadaqah for over 1400 years way before cameras were invented and the craze of posters came about. It's NOT needed. Donations do NOT increase through posters, donations remain the same, posters are for awareness and awareness can be achieved by text, as well as speech as well as word of mouth.

By disobeying Allah (SWT) & His Rasool (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) the Barakah gets taken away thats' what happens.
