RIYADH (MAMOSA Report) Jan 2, 2014
The book “History of Construction & Development of the Holy Kaaba” in Urdu by Naseem Ahmed Bin Haji Karamuddin was recently launched and highly appreciated by the Pakistani community leaders and guests at a local hotel in the Saudi capital.
Some speakers called the book historical, timely, and a remarkable effort by a Muslim architect and urged all to read it.
The 156-paged black ornate hard copy of the book on Holy Kaaba, consisting of 84 chapters, and printed in fine art paper, with hundreds of historical photographs, does justice to the subject including its historical and religious significance in the Muslim world through the lens of history.
The fact that the book was also launched in the land of the Prophet’s two Holy Mosques makes its noteworthy and all the more significant.
The remarkable initiative by the Lahore-based Pakistani author to describe in detail the stages of construction of the Holy Kaaba including the means, methods and sequence of work carried out over a long historical period makes it part of the Islamic history itself.
The author’s interest in the architectural and engineering details of the Holy Kaaba is based on his professional background as an architect.
The author may be right in stating that never in the history such a detailed description of the Holy Kaaba’s development and construction has been described stage-wise with pictorial illustrations in the form of one book.
The well-deserved initiative by the Pakistani architect becomes obvious when one goes through the book and views the vintage photos including details as to how the Holy site developed through the stages of history.
Author Naseem Ahmed Bin Haji has also described the religious history of the Holy Kaaba and backed it with authentic facts and illustrations, sketches, photographs.
For Muslims worldwide, this book on Holy Kaaba published by Al Faisal Publishers in Lahore is a must read and a valuable addition to an individual’s library regardless of his religion as it records the history of the construction and development of mankind’s oldest religious site of utmost significance– particularly for the Muslims.
The author and his publisher Al Faisal of Lahore say they are making arrangements to make the book available on amazon.com and other online stores worldwide. The author and the publisher can be contacted at: [email protected] and [email protected] respectively. The publisher’s website address is: alfaisalpublishers.com

The new King Abdulaziz International Airport with world-class facilities will be ready by the end of this year, said Prince Fahd bin Abdullah, president of the General Authority of Civil Aviation.
“About 60 percent of the project has been completed and the remaining work will be carried out at a much faster pace to finish on time,” he said after inspecting progress of work at the airport on Saturday.
Prince Fahd said experimental operation of the new airport would start during the first five months of 2015. The new expansion will increase the airport’s annual capacity to 30 million passengers in the first phase and 80 million in the final phase.
The SR27-billion project is designed to make KAIA one of the largest hubs in the world. Spanning an area of 670,000 sqm, the airport will have two new terminals for domestic and international passengers.
Prince Fahd said GACA has a plan to train 100 Saudi engineers on the project to help them gain expertise in airport operation and management. “We will also train government employees working at the airport to improve their performance,” the GACA chief said.
Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf, who accompanied the prince during the tour, said the new airport projects in Jeddah and Madinah offer the private sector ample investment opportunity.
“I can see considerable progress in the KAIA expansion project. I believe if the work goes on at this pace, it will be completed very soon,” the minister said. He said the new KAIA would play a pivotal role in linking East and West.
Faisal Al-Sugair, vice president of GACA, Khaled Al-Molhem, director-general of Saudi Arabian Airlines, and Abdul Hameed Abalarry, director general of KAIA, accompanied Prince Fahd during the airport tour.
Apart from the construction of two new terminals, the project includes passenger lounges, a new concourse building with 25 additional passenger bridges and connector buildings linking the terminals, air bridges and movable gates, extension and overall renovation of the existing South Terminal, apron and taxiway modifications and extensions, electrical and mechanical systems, and a car-park.

The General Presidency of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah launched a portable delivery service of Zamzam water in the Grand Mosque’s vicinity on Monday.
Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, chief imam of the Grand Mosque, formally inaugurated the delivery service, through which the water will be delivered inside portable cans.
“Water will be delivered in portable cans to fasting pilgrims on Mondays and Thursdays and throughout the entire month of Ramadan this year,” Ahmed Al-Mansouri of the Presidency of the Grand Mosque and Prophet’s Mosque Affairs told Arab News on Monday.
The portable cans are designed to the highest hygienic standards to protect against infection and have the additional feature of carrying disposable cups.
The General Presidency has also moved to provide counseling and guidance to pilgrims and visitors to Makkah and Madinah.
The presidency is planning on displaying more literature in foreign languages and also conducting lectures for pilgrims.
Abdulaziz Al-Bakht, director of guidance and counseling, supervises such matters inside the Grand Mosque.
The presidency will distribute printed literature to pilgrims for performing rituals according to Islamic laws. It will also display Islamic rulings on various issues.
The presidency has recruited 70 full-time employees and 21 temporary employees to work on a seasonal basis for this purpose. Guidance and counseling classes will be held daily after the five prayers.
Pilgrims can avail of the Urdu translations of the lectures following midday prayers, said Al-Mansouri.
Translation and counseling activities will be held in the south side of the Grand Mosque, also known as the “Junoob Almakbariya,” near King Fahd gate and gate 94.
The General Presidency has also entered into an agreement with the Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah to train students to guide pilgrims, said Al-Mansouri.
