MADINA — Three Saudi men here have accused a businessman of trying to annex Al-Hazeem well and Masjid Al-Noor to his farm in Madina.

Ibrahim Masoud Al-Saedi, Ibrahim Ahmad Assad and Madh Al-Swayyan say they are trying to protect the well and the mosque, which are on the list of historical sites of Madina.

The group has formally lodged a complaint with the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) in Madina. But they are dismayed because they say “they have not received any reply from the commission so far”.

However, Dr. Yousif Al-Mezaini, Director of the Commission’s Branch in Madina, told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that “the two sites fall in the zone of Islamic archaeological sites protected by a royal decree”.

“The commission in Madina is probing the matter to see if the two Islamic historical sites fall within the boundaries of the citizen’s farm in order to take the necessary procedures to restore them,” he said.

“The commission spares no effort in protecting historical sites and antiquities. We are renovating the sites in Madina because of their historical value, which draws millions of visitors from all corners of the Muslim world,” he added.

Road projects worth $266m are earmarked for Makkah in 2012, Saudi Minister of Transport Dr. Jabarah Bin Eid Al-Suraisiry has announced.

The most important projects being implemented in Makkah are the second and third ring roads, each of which will be 14km long, said Dr. Al-Suraisiry, who added that 8km of each road had already been completed.

A project is also being implemented to build a road exclusively for trucks, which will link South Ring Jeddah Road with the Makkah-Madinah Road. "This road will reduce the pressure on Haramain Road and the Jeddah-Makkah Road," said Dr. Al-Suraisiry.

Over the past few years, more than 5,900km of roads have been built in the Makkah area. Projects to build an additional 1,600km are already being implemented, said Dr. Al-Suraisiry. A total of 146 projects have been allocated for Makkah alone.

BEIJING (APP): The first group of Chinese Muslim pilgrims left Beijing for Makkah in Saudi Arabia on Thursday. Religious officials and the Saudi Arabian ambassador to China saw the 664 pilgrims off at the airport before they boarded two chartered flights, provided by Air China, bound for Saudi Arabia.

The pilgrims came from six provincial-level regions, including central China’s Henan province and north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

More than 13,700 Chinese Muslim pilgrims are scheduled to take 41 chartered flights to Makkah for the annual Hajj pilgrimage, which will last from Nov. 5 to 9. The flights will be operated by Air China, China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines.

كشف لـ «عكاظ» وزير النقل الدكتور جبارة الصريصري، عن إعداد تصميم إنشاء طريق سريع جديد يربط مطار الملك عبد العزيز الدولي في جدة بمكة المكرمة، في حين يعكف استشاري مختص بدراسة وتصميم الطريق، الذي سيكون له الأثر الكبير في تخفيف الضغط على طريق الحرمين، طريق جدة مكة المكرمة القديم الجاري تطويره وطريق بريمان هدى الشام أم القرى والذي يتوقع افتتاحه قريبا.

وبين وزير النقل، أن الطريق يجري تنفيذه حاليا للربط بين ميناء جدة وطريق جدة الدائري الجنوبي، وبين طريقي مكة المكرمة والمدينة المنورة بحيث سيخصص للشاحنات، موضحا أن هناك طرقا لمكة المكرمة يجري تنفيذها بطول 1600 كلم، بقيمة أربعة مليارات ريال، فيما يبلغ عدد المشروعات المستقبلية لمكة المكرمة 146 مشروعا.

وكشف الصريصري عن أهم مشروعات الوزارة في مكة المكرمة، الطريق الدائري الثاني الذي نفذ منه 8 كلم والدائري الثالث المنفذ منه أيضا 8 كلم، ويجري حاليا تنفيذ 6 كلم تضم الأجزاء المتبقية لبرنامج الملك عبدالله لإعمار مكة المكرمة.
وأوضح أنه وفقا لتوجيهات خادم الحرمين الشريفين خصص لمكة المكرمة تميزا في مشروعات النقل، وتم ضخ ما لا يقل عن خمسة مليارات و300 مليون، تصرف حاليا على مشروعات الطرق والشبكات المواصلات في مكة المكرمة.
