Islamic traditions of China in spotlight

Thursday 4 April 2013

Prince Miteb bin Abdullah, commander of the National Guard, yesterday opened the pavilion of China, the guest of honor at the 28th Janadriyah Heritage and Culture Festival, in the presence of Chinese Minister of Culture Cai Woo and Ambassador Li Chengwen.

Prince Miteb, accompanied by Abdul Mohsen Al-Tuwaijri, assistant deputy commander of the National Guard, watched folk dances presented by Chinese troupes.

He also toured the pavilion that showcased ancient Chinese civilization, marvelous handicrafts and calligraphy, and well known Islamic dishes and sweets in addition to a map of the 7,000-km Silk Road.

The pavilion highlighted the history of Islam and Muslims in China by displaying old calligraphic writings including a Qur’an copy, Qur’an printed on wood and a golden Qur’an.

“I feel honored to open the Chinese pavilion that reflects the strong Saudi-Chinese relations,” Prince Miteb said.

Medina need to raise the price

Contractors warn of the crisis to come and see
the solution in the open import

Google translation: Confirmed contractors that produce cement local not to exceed 60 million tons per year to the number of 17 factories and there steadily growing demand outstrips production, warning of worsening crisis to come in Medina that need for 9 thousand tons per day in the past and currently is witnessing several residential projects and services, making those insufficient amount in the current period and the next, where the region needs new central between 3 to 5 million cubic meters of cement for the construction of 150 hotels as an alternative to the same number of hotels located in the removal in favor of expansion Mosque of the Prophet, unlike the expansion campus of special interest, and did not find a solution to avoid expected that the crisis only open channels for import by the contracting companies or manufacturers, as happened in the markets which saw iron stable after opening import channels.

Abdullah stressed Radwan, head of the contractors in the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the cement factories in the Kingdom is able to cover the growing demand causing a crisis as a result of the imbalance between supply and demand.

He said: The annual production volume does not exceed 60 million tons for 17 cement factory spread over parts of the Kingdom, warning the crisis expected in Medina to build 150 hotels as an alternative to hotels under removal for the Prophet's Mosque, which need between 3 to 5 million cubic meters to build a number the same hotels and continued: not only the situation on the alternative Created central area next to the Mosque of the Prophet in the city, there are many existing projects from airports and trains in the Kingdom and city has had its share.

Did not find the chairman of the National Committee for contractors solution to avoid unexpected crisis in the cement market only open channels for imports from industrialized countries by construction companies or cement companies, as happened after importing iron, which saw stable prices as a result of the market exuberance.

And supported by the Chairman of the Committee contractors in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Medina Yasser Suhaimi question, why not open channels for import order to overcome the ongoing crisis in the cement? Why do not open new plants? It said the city is witnessing a boom in construction, however, there is no cement plant to reduce the waiting trucks and their accumulation in plants for more than 3 days, which contributed to the high prices of bulk cement to 360 riyals per tonne note that the price specified not later than 240 riyals per tonne, an increase of up to 40 percent

And quotas city of cement, said Suhaimi: there is no quota fixed was the city needed in the past to about 9 thousand tons per day, and the current period or the next need the city to more than that with the construction of the central area of alternative next to campus and require a number of hotels housing in addition to the other service projects other than residential campus expansion project, which is of particular concern and placed his strategic plans so as not to be affected by or affect the market, as happened in expand campus Mecca. The Chairman of the Committee increased contractors in the city room of the most important elements of concrete and cement projects, as manufacturing concrete can be overcome and easily supplied by mobile blenders produced at 180 cubic meters. The cement must be open import and increase local production of a number of factories in order to be saved.

Madinah adds color to Janadriyah fest

Saturday 6 April 2013

Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman formally opened three exhibitions organized by the Madinah Culture and Arts Society at the province’s pavilion at the Janadriyah National Heritage and Culture Festival yesterday.

The society has organized three exhibitions: “Taibah in their Eyes," a photo exhibition called “The Beloved,” and a calligraphy show called, “The Inhabited World.”

The exhibitions come as Madinah celebrates its status as the Islamic Cultural Capital of the Year. The exhibitions evoke the city’s historical role in the service of various Islamic sciences besides stressing the city’s pioneering position as the capital of the Muslim culture.

Prince Faisal also inspected other sections at the Madinah pavilion.

While visiting the Madinah House at the pavilion, the prince listened to a brief description of the house and the significance of its architectural features.

The governor also commended the efforts of the organizers to highlight the distinctive cultural features of the province.

“Madinah province strives to preserve its distinguished position in the outstanding national display by reviving and diversifying its participation,” the prince wrote in the visitors register at the pavilion.

In another development, the organizing committee of the festival released a bulletin covering the topics as well as media coverage of the ongoing cultural and heritage events. Precautions in place to prevent

repeat of truck crash

7 April 2013 - 26 Jumada Al-Awwal 1434 H

JEDDAH – New precautionary measures have been put in place at King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) after a truck that was supposedly stationary suddenly drove off without its driver and crashed into the Haj terminal lounge, killing two people and injuring four others.

The measures have been approved by the airport’s top management to prevent similar accidents from happening again, announced KAIA director Abdul Hameed Aba Al-Ari.

He said: “We’re holding continuous meetings to find out the causes of the accident.”

The Asian driver of the truck, 24-year-old Shailendra Kumar, admitted that he had not shifted the gear to ‘P’ position when he stopped the truck and got down to start a water pump in the back of the vehicle to provide an aircraft with water. The vehicle hurtled forward with force without anyone at the steering wheel. It collided with the tire of another vehicle, changed direction and broke through the glass wall of the passenger lounge.

“I couldn’t do anything but cry. It was all unintentional,” said the driver, who has been detained for questioning.

One of the survivors who was admitted to the hospital following the accident has already been discharged and left for his country while the other is still receiving medical care at the hospital.

According to informed sources, the investigation committee formed by KAIA has not found any criminal motives behind the incident.

I went to the official Makkah museum yesterday and the (older) proposal has umbrellas in the model. The only difference is that the model held in the museum currently is not the one with the mataf expansion.

Although the latest updated version is not in the museum, I believe the umbrellas will be there.

InshaAllah, in a couple of weeks time I shall update the Makkah, Madinah history thread with some more images from yesterday.
