I spoke to the pilgrims, none of them offer the missed 10 rakats taraweeh nor they join the tahajjud in last 10 days to complete the recitation of quran.
1. Pilgrims miss 10 rakat taraweeh
2. Listen to recitation of one complete Quran in taraweeh.
Otherwise they would have been practicing this sunnah in their local masjid.
Regional tensions spark rare hotel price falls in Makkah during Ramadan
MAKKAH: Hotel demand in Makkah during the final 10 days of Ramadan, traditionally the busiest period of the year, has softened this season as international pilgrims cancel bookings due to regional tensions impact on the aviation industry, causing lower prices as more flights get cancelled or rerouted, or as passengers prefer to delay their plans.
The shift has opened opportunities for Saudi citizens and residents as well as visitors from non effected areas and routes, who can now secure rooms near the Grand Mosque at prices rarely seen during Ramadan’s final nights.
Hotels that normally sell out months in advance are now accepting last-minute reservations.
These efforts are part of a comprehensive system of services provided by the general authority to create a comfortable and spiritually enriching environment for all visitors
MAKKAH: The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque provided about 58,000 carpets for the Two Holy Mosques.
Of these, 39,400 carpets are placed in the Grand Mosque in Makkah, including within the Third Saudi Expansion, to ensure the comfort of worshippers.
Field teams continuously monitor the carpets’ readiness through regular cleaning, sanitizing and replacement.
They also redistribute the carpets to accommodate shifts in crowd density during prayer times and peak hours, particularly during the large influx of pilgrims in Ramadan.
The authority places particular emphasis on the quality of the carpets used. They are manufactured to high specifications to withstand intensive use while maximizing comfort for worshipers.
Strict safety standards, along with ease of cleaning and maintenance, are also prioritized.
Major news for Makkah: Airport plans moving forward
Saudi Arabia is pushing ahead with a new airport in Makkah as part of wider transport upgrades aimed at transforming the pilgrim experience.
A new airport in Makkah has been officially approved at a strategic level, marking a significant step forward in improving accessibility for millions of visitors each year.
The airport is planned to be built to international standards, designed to accommodate the growing number of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims travelling to the holy city.
Importantly, the project will involve private sector partnerships, ensuring long-term sustainability and efficiency in development and operations.
Authorities have also confirmed that the airport will be developed in a way that complements existing infrastructure, including King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah - not competing with it.
This is part of a wider transformation of transport in Makkah, alongside metro expansions and major road upgrades aimed at easing congestion and improving movement across the city.
This development aligns with Saudi Arabia’s long-term vision to enhance the overall Hajj & Umrah experience for millions around the world.
Big changes are coming to Makkah.
And this is just the beginning.
MAKKAH: The “Salik Al-Mashaer” platform is a testament to Umm Al-Qura University’s growing role in nurturing innovation and technological entrepreneurship.
By enabling startups to build transformative solutions tailored to the Hajj and Umrah ecosystem, the university is helping drive higher operational efficiency and shorter travel times between the holy sites, advancing the Kingdom's digital transformation agenda and its broader national vision of delivering a world-class experience for pilgrims.
Al-Amad, specializing in extended reality solutions for education and training, announced its participation in the Umrah and Visit Forum 2026, where it displayed its latest product, “Salek Al-Mashaer.” The virtual reality experience is designed to prepare pilgrims by simulating movement between the holy sites and enhancing their readiness to handle various conditions during the Hajj season.
Use of AI and virtual reality transforms one of the most logistically complex events on earth: the Hajj
Integrates augmented reality technologies through an interactive training program that allows pilgrims and Umrah performers to experience the holy sites virtually before arrival
Highest historical record for Umrah pilgrims from outside Saudi Arabia, with over 18 million pilgrims, exceeding the annual target of 15 million pilgrims.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
