Hajj Ministry sets Dhul Qadah 15 as the last date for expiry of Umrah visa

JEDDAH — The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced that Dhul Qadah 15 will be the last day for the expiry of Umrah visa for pilgrims coming from outside the Kingdom. The advancing of the Umrah visa expiry date from Dhul Qadah 29 to Dhul Qadah 15 is to streamline the smooth flow of pilgrims to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah from all over the world for the annual pilgrimage of Hajj, according to the ministry.

The ministry also noted that the validity of the three-month Umrah visa will be deemed to begin from the date of its issuance, instead of the previously approved validity from the date of entry into Saudi Arabia. The ministry clarified this in response to a number of inquiries made through its X platform.

The ministry clarified that the validity of the Umrah visa is three months from the date of its issuance, provided that it expires no later than Dhul Qadah 15, and that is in accordance with the coordination made between the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “This date of Dhul Qadah 15 was approved, two weeks (14 days) earlier than the previously announced expiry date of Dhul Qadah 29,” the ministry added.

It appears to be for the protection of the Mehrab as it will be moved during prayer times

Cloud Seeding Program plans to cover Makkah and Holy Sites using ground-based generators
May 20, 2024

The Saudi Regional Cloud Seeding Program said that its Weather Improvement Department is working under the supervision of experts to improve weather conditions in the targeted areas, including the holy city of Makkah and the Holy Sites.

Saudi Gazette Report

JEDDAH — The Saudi Regional Cloud Seeding Program confirmed that it is working to improve the weather condition in the Kingdom by making optimal use of all available opportunities and technologies. Its focusses include using ground-based generators to stimulate clouds from high altitudes rather than using aircraft. The program also noted that Makkah and the Holy Sites will be given priority while implementing this new technology of cloud seeding program.

The program said that its Weather Improvement Department is working under the supervision of experts to improve weather conditions in the targeted areas, including the holy city of Makkah and the Holy Sites of Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah. This is in partnership and cooperation with research centers and international universities specialized in this field.

The program also noted that the CEO of the National Center of Meteorology and general supervisor of the Regional Cloud Seeding Program discussed this matter.

The program will benefit from the new techniques of the cloud seeding program that were recently included, such as the ground generators that will soon work in the program to stimulate clouds from heights and not through airplanes, in addition to the cloud physics research plane that recently entered into service. The program will work to present these studies and research in relevant international conferences to highlight Saudi Arabia’s successes through the Regional Cloud Seeding Program.
