7 Pakistani nationals arrested for arranging illegal transportation for Hajj pilgrims

RIYADH — Police in Riyadh arrested seven Pakistani nationals for their involvement in promoting private transportation for Hajj pilgrims traveling to Makkah.
The men arranged private transportation and lured Hajj pilgrims to use the vehicles in an illegal way to travel to Makkah. They also managed to obtain money in advance from the pilgrims.
Riyadh police arrested an Egyptian resident who was operating an unlicensed office in one of the neighborhoods in the city to promote fake Hajj campaigns.
Legal procedures were initiated against the eight men, who were then handed over to the Public Prosecution, according to the police sources.
Eco-friendly electric buses start operating at Madinah airport
MADINAH — Environmentally-friendly buses started operation at Prince Muhammad International Airport in Madinah on Thursday.
This is the first time eco-friendly buses, which are fully powered by electricity, are being operated at any of Saudi Arabia’s airports.
The buses are equipped with many advanced technical facilities including four cameras to document all information and happenings taking place inside.
The buses were tested for the highest standards to ensure the safety and security of passengers at airports. The buses are about nine meters long and can cover more than 300 kilometers before recharging, which takes less than two hours.
The SAS (Saudi American Solar) buses are characterized for being very quiet and preserving the environment, and they do not emit any pollutants, especially carbon. The bus features a sturdy and lightweight structure made of aluminum. It is also equipped with batteries that operate a unique water-cooling system to increase the battery life and enhance its efficiency to maximum levels even in high external temperatures.
The bus has an advanced and highly efficient air conditioning system from the inside, as well as display screens that show all the details of the journey. The bus has an area designated for people with special needs, which gives them the feature of safe self-mobility.
The launch of the electric bus service comes as part of a series of goals of the Tibah Airports Operation Co., which aims to promote greater reliance on clean energy and green buildings, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The Madinah airport is the first airport in the world outside the United States that was approved by the US Green Building Council, and it met all the requirements of the LEED Certification. The airport also received the first place award for environmental excellence for the year 2018 from the Madinah Region Development Authority.

Senior Joint Secretary Hajj Reviews Facilities For Pilgrims At Jeddah Airport

Senior Joint Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs Alamgir Khan on Tuesday visited Jeddah Airport in Saudi Arabia and reviewed the facilities being provided to Hajj Pilgrims by the Pakistan Hajj mission.
On the occasion, the Joint Secretary was given a detailed briefing by the officials of the Pakistan Hajj Mission on Hajj flight operation by Pakistan and facilities being provided to passengers by the Saudi Aviation Authority at the airport.
He directed the mission to ensure the timely departure of Hajj pilgrims to Makkah after their arrival at Jeddah Airport.
Alamgir Khan was also directed to provide all possible facilities to the intended Hujjaj without any delay.
The joint secretary also met Hajj pilgrims coming from Pakistan and asked about the services being provided by Hajj seasonal staff of the ministry at the airport.
The government has declined an offer from the Saudi Arabian authorities to send an additional 10,000 Indonesians on the holy pilgrimage this year, citing time constraints.
Following eased COVID-19 restrictions, the government announced earlier this year that Indonesia would be sending some 100,000 pilgrims to go on haj
