Umrah season normally starts after the 15th of Muharram under normal circumstances. It may even start later. You will have to wait for the official announcement from the ministry of Hajj

For Visa updates, it is best to check when ready to travel as some have performed Umrah on tourist visa's when they arrived in Saudi.

Some have claimed that they can apply for an e-visa when they land at the airport, however, all of this should be checked with an authorised agent beforehand. The rules change very quickly.

Quote:
Can I Perform Umrah With a Tourist Visa?
Yes, you can perform Umrah with a tourist visa, and it has several advantages compared to an Umrah visa. For example, you can stay longer, and it’s issued with multiple entries. However, tourist visas are more difficult to obtain, and you have a higher chance of getting a pilgrimage visa when you apply with a licensed travel agency. Plus, you can only perform Umrah with a tourist visa and not Hajj.

Quote:
Can I perform Umrah using a tourist visa?
Yes, you can. Everyone visiting Saudi Arabia on a tourist visa may obtain an Umrah permit by applying through the Eatmarna and Tawakkalna app.

Furthermore, performing Umrah on a tourist visa does offer its own advantages such as a longer stay period, permission for multiple entries, and the freedom to choose your own hotel for Umrah.

Quote:
Umrah Visa Validity
The Umrah visa is valid for two weeks. But, if you are performing Umrah during Ramadan, you must leave by the last day of the holy month regardless of whether you have stayed two weeks or not.

I'm assuming overcrowding, rush or even a small stampede

There must've been a scuffle as there was a couple of weeks ago and tonight is the 27th night for them, and Allah knows best.

Supreme Courts Orders Search Of Shawwal Crescent On Saturday Evening

RIYADH: The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia on Thursday ordered accredited observatories to search for the Shawwal 1443 Crescent on the evening of Saturday, 29 Shawwal 1443 corresponding to March 30th, 2022.

It also called upon citizens and residents to search for the crescent and report any sightings to their nearest court, The Saudi Press Agency reported citing the Royal Court.

The sighting of the crescent of Shawwal will also mark the day of Eid Al Fitr which will begin either fall on Sunday or Monday next week.

Several Astronomers have said that there are less chances of the crescent of being seen on Saturday evening and the month of Ramadan 1443 is likely to complete 30 days.

No permit required to perform Eid prayers at Two Holy Mosques
April 28, 2022

MAKKAH — The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has confirmed that worshipers who wish to perform the Eid Al-Fitr prayer at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah are not required to obtain a permit.

The ministry indicated that entering the Grand Mosque does not require a permit, but it is a must to get issued a permit to perform Umrah through Eatmarna application.

It is noteworthy that the Supreme Court has called on all Muslims around the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to sight Shawwal crescent on Saturday evening, 29 Ramadan 1443 AH - according to Umm Al-Qura calendar - corresponding to April 30, 2022.

Eid Al-Fitr prayers for this year will be held across the Kingdom 15 minutes after sunrise, according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar.

Expansion of Masjid e Nabawi seemed to have been frozen. This looks like a plan from 2021 and by the looks of the current area, this is what we might see in the near future and not the huge expansion as posted a few years ago.
