Shariah guidance in seven languages for Makkah Grand Mosque visitors
MAKKAH: Shariah guidance for Makkah visitors is being provided in seven languages. The languages are English, Urdu, Persian, French, Turkish, Hausa and Bengali, with translators at designated locations helping those with questions.
The number of people who benefited from this service in the first quarter of the year was 23,135, through seven locations inside the mosque. The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, represented by the General Administration for Guidance Affairs, is providing the service through the “We Guide You in Your Language†program.
Meanwhile, the presidency has distributed more than 1,205,600 liters of Zamzam water at the mosque in three months. The total number of Zamzam water bottles distributed during the same period was 6 million bottles.
RIYADH: The Grand Mosque in Makkah is disinfected and sterilized ten times a day to keep pilgrims and worshippers safe, Saudi Press Agency reported.
4,000 male and female workers carry out the cleaning operations and are supervized by 200 senior employees.
During the last Islamic month, 300 washing and disinfection operations were carried out at the Grand Mosque and its courtyards using 2,400,000 liters of high-quality disinfectant and cleaning products.
The mosque was also perfumed with 45,000 liters of scent, and 100 fragrance diffusers were used inside it, the report added.
500 appliances and pieces of equipment were used during the cleaning operations and each operation took 25 minutes to ensure that worshippers were not disturbed.
RIYADH: In cooperation with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced the launch of a service that allows overseas pilgrims to apply for Umrah and prayer permits in the Grand Mosque, and for prayer at Rawdah at the Prophet’s Mosque.
The ministry said the service will be effective via the Eatmarna and Tawakkalna apps after registering on the Quddum platform. The ministry and the authority urged all users to update the apps.
On Oct. 16, the Ministry of Interior announced the easing of restrictions across the Kingdom, including those affecting the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, allowing a full return to operations and capacity.

Officials in Saudi Arabia have announced that permits and appointments are no longer needed for visitors wishing to pray at the Prophet’s Holy Mosque in Medina, according to the Kingdom’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
Officials said that visitors wishing to pray at the Prophet’s Holy Mosque will no longer need to apply for a permit and book an appointment through the “Eatmarna†app but will still be required to present their “Tawakkalna†app proving they have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine or received the first dose and completed 14 days after receiving the jab, according to the Saudi newspaper Okaz.
Last month, the Grand Mosque in Mecca operated at full capacity, with worshippers praying shoulder-to-shoulder for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began.
This came after Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry approved easing the country’s strict COVID-19 precautionary measures, which include operating Mecca’s Grand Mosque at full capacity.
Earlier this week, the Kingdom announced that overseas pilgrims can now apply for permits for Umrah and prayers at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, as well as for visiting the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina via approved mobile applications.
