Thermal cameras installed at Prophet’s Mosque to combat coronavirus

Thermal cameras have been installed to monitor the body temperature of all those who enter the Prophet’s Mosque, Saudi Press Agency reported early Friday.

The move is part of the efforts made by the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The thermal imaging devices can scan the body temperate of 25 people at a time with high accuracy within a distance of 9 meters. They work nonstop and give real-time video and audio reports for everyone.

The thermal scanners save and store images and temperatures in their storage memory for a month, allowing them to be retrieved when needed remotely on screens and mobile devices by experts.

With 402 new infections in Makkah, total Saudi cases cross 10,000-mark

April 20

With 402 new infections in Makkah,
total Saudi cases cross 10,000-mark
Ministry of Health spokesman Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali.

Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — The number of coronavirus infections in the Kingdom on Monday surpassed the frightful 10,000-mark with Minister of Health Tawfiq Al-Rabiah expecting a continued rise in the number of cases in the upcoming days.

The Kingdom reported 1,122 cases during the last 24 hours increasing the overall figure to 10,484.

Six new deaths were recorded since Sunday, bringing the total number of virus-related fatalities in the Kingdom to 103. The six deaths are all non-citizens and include five people who lived in Makkah and one person who lived in Jeddah, Ministry of Health spokesman Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali was quoted by Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as telling a regular press briefing.

The dead were between the ages of 23 to 70 years and most of them suffered from chronic illnesses he added.

The holy city of Makkah recorded the highest number of cases (402), followed by 200 in Riyadh, 186 in Jeddah, 120 in Madinah, 78 in Dammam, 63 in Hufof, 39 in Jubail and 16 in Taif. There were five cases in Al-Khobar, three each in Buraidah and Najran, and one each in Al-Madda, Yanbu, Zulfi and Diriyah.

Medical teams have been conducting mass coronavirus screenings in neighborhoods across the Kingdom since Friday to ensure that cases are detected early.

“Instead of waiting for someone to tell us that they have been infected and having to isolate all those who had direct contact with them, we go to the neighborhoods that we feel might have a lot of cases. We go to homes, we go to residential complexes so we can discover the cases before they come to us,” Al-Rabiah said in a televised address.

Unfortunately I don't have references as yet. I was told this when in Hajj with Tablighi brothers and also told this by many Tablighi brothers and heard it in talks, many years ago.

Saudi Arabia suspends praying in the Two Holy Mosques in Ramadan

arab.news/nt9b7
The call for prayer will still be heard

ARAB NEWS
April 21

RIYADH: The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques said on Monday that it would extend the suspension of prayers during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, as part of efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
President General of the Two Holy Mosques, Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais, said in a tweet that the Grand Mosque (Masjid Al-Haram) in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque (Al Masjid Al-Nabawi) will broadcast the call for prayer (adhan) throughout the month but would remain closed to worshippers.

The authority last month began intensifying precautionary anti-coronavirus measures and boosted coordination between all parties that were concerned with the safety of pilgrims.

When they are completing quran in 29 days, the time spend for 20 or 10, the difference could be 10 to 20%.
Making it 10 will not make it half the time taken for taraweeh
Illogical.

Or they are giving message to other masajid to limit to 10 only.
