Can you please put the ruling next to each item you have listed.

e.g. Taraweeh finish in one night! (The entire Quran) Bidah - Not Bidah etc.

I am asking this because the Ramadhan we completed the whole Quran in one night at our mosque with Mufti Abdur Raheem Limbada.

I am not a Maulana and have no place to speak but the matters which occured at Masjid Quba must be checked with Ulama.

Play the recording of the recitation from Juz 18 onwards to a Scholar and obtain the ruling.

Sounds like you have something to say.

Muft Abdur Raheem and his son lead the prayers. I understand that the clarity was not perfect. I'm not a Hafidh of the Quran so I couldnt follow it.

I also heard that Shaykh Haytham al Haddad turned up with some salafis who protested about it and left and the next day mufti saab gave his evidence which I missed.

It is contraversial as I heard they do this every night of Ramadhan in Darul Uloom Bury. I dont know if that is true.

assalaamu 'alaykum
Your comment brother muadh, is too generalised..

Numbers 1,2, 4 & 5 are not done in all masaajid/darul ulooms

As for seerah programmes in this month, they are not kept to commemorate our Prophet's (sallallaahu 'alayhi wasallam) birthday of day of death. Many bid'at practices exist around this time and th seerah programmes are a good way to create awareness of the seerah & sunnah as well as a means of making people aware and refrain from the bid'at practices.

Asslamo Allaikum Sisters,

  1. I never said, "all"
  2. Shaykh (Maulana) Yaqub Qasmi (HA) has already answered that if we think that we love Rasul-ullah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassalllam) more then Sayyidina Abu-Bakr (RA) then go ahead. "Love & Raising awareness" is precisely the reason Barelwees give for Meelad!

Whether they are good or bad is NOT the issue.

Sunnah is Silent on the issue.

Hanafi Madhab is Silent on the issue.

Please give examples where Shaykh (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA) etc had Seerah conferences in Rabiul-Awwal?

Before that please give examples where Shah Wali-ullah (RA) or Mujaddid Alf Thani (RA) etc had Seerah conferences in Rabiul-Awwal?

Before that please give examples where Shah Wali-ullah (RA) or Mujaddid Alf Thani (RA) etc had Seerah conferences in Rabiul-Awwal?

Please give examples where Pious Imams had Seerah conferences in Rabiul-Awwal?

I have checked with a Senior graduate of Darul-uloom Deoband and they have no such gatherings in Rabiul-Awwal.

I have then checked with a graduate of Karachi Darul-uloom and they have no such gatherings in Rabiul-Awwal.

I have then checked with a graduate of Mazahirul-uloom Darul-uloom and they have no such gatherings in Rabiul-Awwal.

Has this goodness descended directly to British Muslims? If thats the case then more power to them.

And then I asked Shaykh(Maulana) Yaqoob Qasmi (HA).

Jazakullah Khairun

Pick up any book of Hanafi Madhab (including Bahisthi Zewar) and check on how Taraweeh should be done and whether you can have Tahajjud Jamaat or not.

Pick up any Fatawa book and both issues are clearly explained.

Clarity of the Qur'aan was not perfect? Have you actually heard fromJuz 17 onwards? I am sure that the recordings are on the web.

I was there, I can confirm that the recitation was too fast.

Allahu alum, when such scholars are leading the prayers, then one doesnt go to the fatwa books.

I know that Imam Abu Hanifa would complete the Quran in Rakat / Night, but not in Jamaat.

I do see your point. One of my cousins who became a Hafidh at Bury didnt agree with the idea as well.

Its a tricky place out there.

Asslamo Allaikum,

If you can disregard Imam Abu Haneefa (RA) and his entire Madhab at whim then what is the difference between your Taqleed and that of the Salafees? : - )  They also disregard Madhabs based on "their Scholars".

Think about it when you are alone.

I do agree with you, there are many things creeping into the deobandi mosques that is not of Sunnah.

Its hard to tell when the scholars themselves are doing it.

The point about the whole Quran being recited in one night was one thing, the argument about the recitation is another.

I dont think they called it Tahajjud. It was still called taraweeh, (as they are two different Salahs).

I dont disregard any points from the fiqh of Imam Abu Hanifa. It is amazing that the scholars produce ample evidence to back them up from the Hanafi fiqh. (I'm not talking about Tahajjud in Jamaat).

Like I said, Mufti Limbada gave a bayan the next day after Asr Salah to give his daleel for such an act. Unfortunately I was not there and I have never heard any daleels regarding it my self.

Dont get me wrong, we all want to make sure we are doing the right thing. One of them is not being a Salafi.

Asslamo Allaikum,

I was Taraweeh at Masjid Quba but Tahajjud with Jamaat is regularly done at many places in UK.

Basically if a person follows a Scholar and doesn't know any better then that's OK but if the person knows the ruling and then disregards it then that's the problematic side and everybody should consult the Ulama on the matter.

Its a shame to be honest.

Anyway, I would have loved to meet you, next time InshaAllah.

(That is my local mosque, if you're around please do let me know, It will be a pleasure to meet you for the sake of Allah).

As for the Khatams, many many years ago, there used to be a Yasin Khatam after Jummuah Salah every week. This had since stopped. I'm talking 80's and early 90's.

Anyway, like "an" Imam told me, I cant be bothered with the committee, they shall learn with time.

But in many mosques, it looks like time moves on and Bidah gets stronger.

Asslamo Allaikum,

Unfortuanately we cannot hide from these matters. There is a well known Deobandi Alim who did participate in Meelad.

There is nothing technically wrong with "Ta'weez" and what matters is what is inside of it! I personally don't use it but thats my personal choice.

In my humble opinion these matters are coming from Ulama and groups who are EXTREME in Tassawuff and their Tassawuff has TAKEN OVER their Fiqh.

During the Scholars Scribe course in Dewsbury the following Q/A took place and since this was transmitted on the Masjid Speaker it is for public knowledge.

German Brother:  Is a Mureed obligated to follow his Shaykh in every way?

Mufti Zubair Dudha (HA): No! unless the Shaykh is a Faqih and his matters in the Fiqh are also Hujja for laymen. Shaykh Imadadullah Mohajir Makki (RA) was the Shaykh of Ulama like (Shaykh) Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA) but there were many occasions where they did'nt follow their Shaykh in matters of Fiqh.

There are matters in which I don't follow my Shaykh i.e. Arifbillah (Shaykh) Hakeem Akhtar Saheb (HA) because my Shaykh is not a Faqih.

If your Shaykh is a Shaykh of Tassawuff & also a Faqih (i.e. Mufti Taqi Usmani (HA) or Mufti Ibraheem Desai (HA) or other Mufti) then you follow him in both Tassawuff & Fiqh because he is Hujjah in both.

Otherwise you follow your Shaykh in matters of the heart (Tassawuff).

The underlined explaination is my understanding and the rest of the words are pretty close to the best of my memory.  In UK there are Mashaykh who are neither Muhadith (Scholars of Hadeeth) nor Fuqaha (Scholars of Fiqh) and their Mureeds (students) follow them in these matters and thats' the problem!

Another example is that in Fiqh  Shaykh (Maulana) Yusuf Motala (HA) and his Mureeds raise their finger and keep it raised in Salah while Shaykhul-Hadeeth (Maulana) Zakariyya (RA) used to raise his finger and drop it.

Another example is that in Fiqh I have observed that Prawns was served in a Majlis where Arifbillah (Shaykh) Hakeem Akhtar Saheb (HA) had given a talk and many of his Mureeds (UIama & laymen) DID NOT eat because it is Makrooh in the Hanafi Madhab and Mufti Zubair Dudha (HA) forbade people from eating it because of his own Fatwa (according to Hanafi Madhab).

Brothers who spend time in the company of these Mashaykh have a better chance of keeping their eyes open and observing these matters. If you read the history of Ulama of Deoband this concept is DEAD CLEAR. In UK its an issue because of ignorance of people and "overhype".

There is no concept in Islam where you are DEAD CERTAIN that something is wrong and you still follow it because you see a Shaykh or a Maulana doing it.

Jazakullah Khairun
