My mom only had one eye. I hated her... she was such an embarrassment. My mom ran a small shop at a flea market. She collected little weeds and such to sell...anything for the money that we needed, she was such an embarrassment.

There was this one day during elementary school. I remember that it was field day, and my mom came. I was so embarrassed. How could she do this to me? I threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school..."Your mom only has one eye?!" and they taunted me.

I wished that my mom would just disappear from this world, so I said to my mom, "Mom, why don't you have the other eye?! You're only going to make me a laughingstock. Why don't you just die?"
My mom did not respond.

I guess I felt a little bad, but at the same time, it felt good to think that I had said what I'd wanted to say all this time. Maybe it was because my mom hadn't punished me, but I didn't think that I had hurt her feelings very badly. That night...I woke up, and went to the kitchen to get a glass of water. My mom was crying there, so quietly, as if she was afraid that she might wake me. I took a look at her, and then turned away.

Because of the thing I had said to her earlier, there was something pinching at me in the corner of my heart. Even so, I hated my mother who was crying out of her one eye. So I told myself that I would grow up and become successful, because I hated my one-eyed mom and our desperate poverty. Then I studied really hard. I left my mother and came to Seoul and studied, and got accepted in the Seoul University with all the confidence I had. Then, I got married. I bought a house of my own. Then I had kids, too. Now I'm living happily as a successful man.

I like it here because it's a place that doesn't remind me of my mom. This happiness was getting bigger and bigger, when someone unexpected came to see me "What?! Who's this?!" ...It was my mother...Still with her one eye. It felt as if the whole sky was falling apart on me. My little girl ran away, scared of my mom's eye. And I asked her, "Who are you? I don't know you!!!" as if he trying to make that real. I screamed at her "How dare you come to my house and scare my daughter! GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!" And to this, my mother quietly answered, "oh, I'm so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address," and she disappeared. Thank goodness... she doesn't recognize me. I was quite relieved. I told myself that I wasn't going to care, or think about this for the rest of my life.

Then a wave of relief came upon me...

One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house. I lied to my wife saying that I was going on a business trip. After the reunion, I went down to the old shack, that I used to call a house...just out of curiosity there, I found my mother fallen on the cold ground. But I did not shed a single tear. She had a piece of paper in her hand.... it was a letter to me.

She wrote:
My son...
I think my life has been long enough now. And... I won't visit Seoul anymore... but would it be too much to ask if I wanted you to come visit me once in a while? I miss you so much. And I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I decided not to go to the school.... For you... I'm sorry that I only have one eye, and I was an embarrassment for you. You see, when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye. As a mother, I couldn't stand watching you having to grow up with only one eye... so I gave you mine...I was so proud of my son that was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye. I was never upset at you for anything you did. The couple times that you were angry with me. I thought to myself, 'it's because he loves me.' I miss the times when you were still young around me.
I miss you so much. I love you. You mean the world to me

My world shattered!!!
Then I cried for the person who lived for me... My MOTHER

These inspirational stories makes us think that how lucky we are to have mothers :) we can hug them, kiss them. even sometimes we have arguments with them they can still forgive us and one look of our mothers give ,can make us forget the arguments we had with eachother. How beautiful is this? Dont you all agree with me ? :)

We have spouses, children friends, family....no matter what you think you know or what you believe....never underestimate your parent's love for you.

Yes kiss and hug your parents....tell them you love them....they don't want your money, they don't want your cars or your clothes, all they want is your love and affection.

For some of us it's too late...they are no longer here, we can't even look at their blessed faces. Our doors of duas of our parents are closed....no one other than your parents will make a heartfelt dua for you.

SubhanAllah...there are no barriers for a mother's dua for her child...this is one blessing I miss the most....I would find any excuse to ask my parents to make dua. Make the most of them whilst they are still alive....because you will only feel the big painful gap in in your hearts once they're gone.

Some of us have lost our mothers. Some of us never knew our mothers. Some of us live very far from our mothers. I apologize if this share made any of you feel hurt.

Some of us have mothers who aren't Muslim. Some of us have mothers that may be Muslim but not practicing. Please don't fixate on these things - she is your mother, alhamdulillah.

Some of us have mothers who couldn't hurt a fly. Some of us have mothers that are very strict. Regardless, Allah Ta'aala has put a softness in her heart that, no matter what, she would still do what others couldn't imagine doing for you, alhamdulillah.

I don't think anyone else would do what this brother's mother does for him, or many other things. Just think: how many would, free of charge, with genuine care, love, attention and kindness... purely to help another person, to comfort them, to bring them back to a state of comfort - do what this brother's mother does? Not even an employee of a hospital would do it with such care and would probably be gagging the whole time, making the person feel humiliated :(

It is ajeeb how when we are little we look up to our mothers, love them, listen to their every word, want to be near them, want to hold their hand in public... but then we hit a certain age and all of a sudden we start nit-picking on 'flaws' and exaggerate them and fixate on them and prefer to go out with others than with our mothers, and no longer really listen to them... though we may still love them.

I know a little boy who literally walked away from his daycare one day and his mother received a frantic phone call from the daycare saying they couldn't find him, he just walked away. So she went, the boy was found but upset. Later, when she asked him why he did that, he said "I did what you told me to do. I got angry and walked away." :) The same boy once replied to a teacher "you can't tell me what to do, you're not my mom!" :) Later, the boy is still very caring and kind to his mother masha'Allah but does he listen like he did back then :) unfortunately, no.

"How can you have a good relationship with God if you don't have a good relationship with your mother"?

love her and pray for your mother, for she is the beating heart that with the grace of Allah brought you into this world.

The Western mission to devalue the mother

1. Making women believe that a career is more important than family resulting in baby sitters and nannies raising and loving their own children

2. Making men believe that they can't stop their wives from careers and instead fulfil the rights of children with twisted "equal rights" message. Thus resulting in malformed families and lack of home environments

3. Shoving "birthdays" and its false importance down children's throats resulting in forgetting the sacrifices of mothers from pregnancy, labour and raising them. Also resulting in the complete lack of thanking Allah for giving them life and health. All they want are presents. Instead acknowledging being a year closer to death, a celebration and gifts are demanded by children making the mother a slave instead.

4. Show after show aimed at teenagers making parents look like burdens and embarrassments when parents should be the pride of their kids no matter what.

5. Making kids believe they're free to "do what they want as it's their life." - nowhere in the world can a person do "whatever they want" let alone children yet it's still taught, encouraged and constantly brought into education, entertainment and maybe all sorts of subliminal messages too.

These are just 5 of many things that make me wonder how easily people are driven away from reality and what's really important. I truly believe that these sort of things is why "mothers" (and fathers obviously) just don't have that value that you find in history.

Make dua for mothers all around the world and specially for mothers of Syria, Palestine, Egypt and all those places where they are in trouble, May Allah bless our mothers and grant them Jaza-e-khair and reward them with the highest place in jannah for having us, bearing our mischief's, sacrificing comforts and sleep for sake of us and for making us a good muslim.

Seriously, this thread made tears roll down, and a request to everyone remember my mother in your duas, Insha Allah I'll remember you all.

There was an American court case i read about many years ago, an elderly lady took her son to court because he refused to visit her, he was her only child and as she was getting older she was becoming less and less independent and isolated.

In the sons defence he stated, he had bought a puppy, hence the puppy needed care and attention and was priority.

To my amazement...guess how the court ruled?

The court came to the ruling that the puppy had no one to tend to it's needs as it was incapable of looking after itself, whereas the state could provide services to provide the mother the care she needed.

Therefore the mother lost the case, and the case won in favour of the son, so he ccould continue to provide his pet with the care it needed to survive :-(

İ can never understand people who had fights with their mothers daily. İ know many people that they would choose their friends over their mothers. i know people who would swear at their mums, just cos a little mistake their mothers did. Such a shame, dissapointing and heartbreaking at the same time. Yes sometimes we can have fights with our mothers but really can you have fights with your mum daily and hate your mum so much? How can you choose your friends over your mother? i apoglize for this post. İts reminds me of a friend of mine. İ can say that May Allah Ta'ala always put love in our hearts for our beloved mother. And then there's Islam:

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr:

A man came to the Prophet asking his permission to take part in Jihad. The Prophet asked him, "Are your parents alive?" He replied in the affirmative. The Prophet said to him, "Then exert yourself in their service." - (Bukhari)
