I just wanted to let everyone know about the following as i know thatinterest credit is something which is haram in islam and we find ithard to not deal with it when it comes to banking.
i have come accross a few bank accounts which allow you certainfacilities and they do not credit your account with any interest.
The cashminder account with the cooperative bank as you recieve a visaelectron debit card [for online shopping ect....] and you dont recieveany interest. i know this as i have this accounthttp://www.co-operativebank.co.uk/servlet/Satellite/1193206368743,CFSweb/Page/Bank-CurrentAccounts the account can be opened in branch or by phone Tel: 0169553760
The easycash card account [Halifax] they offer a visa electron debitcard and you recieve no interesthttp://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/easycash.asp
Any HSBC account [current included] which is opened, the interestcredit facility can be removed as i have had this done....it is verystraight forward telephone the customer services Dept': 01226 261226 oryou can do it via the messages service on internet banking.
Alliance and Leicester now have a basic bank account and a currrent account....the basic gives you a visa electron and the current a visa. NO interest credit is applied to either account.
jzk... for this thread, its really helpful. i dont have a bank a/c solely for the reason of interest, which means at times its a struggle as i have to depend on other people for cheque and debit payments. This info. is really useful and well appreciated.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
