Salam,

For Windows XP and other OS will be similar too...
  1. Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel
  2. Double click Regional and Language Options
  3. Select middle tab: Languages
  4. Under Supplemental language support, tick "Install files for complex script and right-to-left language (first option)
  5. Click OK
This will install additional language support. Windows will most likelyask you to insert the Windows CD. If you don't have it, check C driveor D drive for a folder called i386. The required files will be inthere.

Once this is done, go back to Regional and Language Options. Middle tab again, and this time click on Details button on the top.

Near the midldle, click Add.

From the drop down menu, select Arabic (saudi arabic) or the arabiclanguage support you want followed by the keyboard layout (if you don'tknow, just choose Arabic 101)

Click OK and you're done.

By pressing ALT+SHIFT, you can switch between the two languages on Word and control the fonts just like the english fonts.

Hope this helps. If you already had this, hope it helps others.

Salaam

I assume you've got the arabic script either through the 'character map' or an internet keyboard, in which case Microsoft Word does not fully recognise it like a normal font... well, not as far as I know

The solutions suggested above will actually install the arabic font onto your computer, thus enabling Microsoft Word to treat the characters just like any other font ... so that you can increase the font size, reduce it, make it bold, apply a shadow etc.

I know the procedure might seem long-winded, but it really is worth the result.
