I read the list that's given of a girl's mahrams, but i want to specifically ask if the brother of your maternal grandfather ( brother of your mother's father) be a mahram because its not in the diagram. please confirm this for me. thanks a lot.

thanks for that Taalibah,
the article doesnt say anything about
brother of your maternal grandfather ( brother of your mother's father ) so is it safe to assume that he isn't a mahram then?

quote" ...the purpose of the verse isn't to totally list all the individuals fromwhom Hijaab is Fardh. The son in law isn't mentioned in the verse, whereas Hijaab isn't necessary from him (unless there is fear offitnah)."
so brother of grandfather isnt mentioned either...
is there a way of asking questions from mufti thru a private message?

as far as i know a mothers mahram is the mahram of her daughter.

Allah سبحانه وتعالى knows best, would be advisable to consult a local alim or mufti, or

that's what I thought too, but then I figured that there are some exceptions as well...
for example mother's nephew isnt a mahram for daughter, and the same way,
a son-in-law isnt a mahram for her daughter...
but thanks for the input.
i think i will ask ulama.

Asalamualikum.w.w.

A question i once asked mufti Abdullah patel form this forum:

Q: Does one do purdah from their step mothers
father and brother?

A: Yes, purdah is necessary from one's step mother's
father and brother. Only the step mother is mahram to
the step son. Not her Usool or Furoo'.
