Assalamoalaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaatuh

Allahu Akbar - indeed Allah is the best Provider !

Yes, the Mawrid al Qareeb is available as a pocket size dictionary and is also both English>Arabic and Arabic>English.

There's a wonderful sister I know who is selling all types of Mawrid dictionaries on ebay - shipping is direct from Saudi Arabia. The links on my 'arabic' page are all to her products on eBay.

Azhar Academy also sell the Mawrid al Quareeb for only 3, and the Hans Wehr for only 10. (pick-up from the warehouse on Little Ilford Lane)

However, the dictionaries stocked by Azhar are published in India, whereas the sister in Saudi sells ORIGINAL Dar el-Ilm lilmalayin, Beirut, Lebanon publications.

Dare I guess that most would opt for the cheaper print, irrespective of paper and print quality? lol

Admittedly, the drawback of ordering from Saudi is that it can take up to 2 weeks for your dictionary to arrive (plus the postage costs), however, insha Allah, I will be stocking her products in the very near future, and will therefore be offering a next day delivery service to mainland UK via first class post. In sha Allah !

Hope that helps.

Jazakumullah khairun

Yes, the purple dictionary is a 2 in 1 pocket dictionary- its dimensions are: 10cm (wide) x 13.5cm (high) x 3.5 cm (thick)

The English>Arabic half of the dictionary also features black and white illustrations.

If you do choose to buy from the sister (don't let the username confuse you, she really is a Muslim sister), I hope you will be pleased with your purchase, and I assure you that she will be more than happy to deal with any queries or complaints you might have.
