Dewsbury also gives a taster of whats to expect i.e going in group with others you dont know, sleeping on floor for few nights, eating at fixed times, and just getting used to a general deeni mahol.
Also spending a few days in tablighi 3day programs also helps as it creates the deeni jaazbat/awareness of imaan/amaal and makes you reliase you wanna go hajj to CHANGE your life and come back a better muslim and try to live your life accordingly afterwards. But i undertand TJ is not everyone cup of tea. Khanqa (i.e moLLy saleem) could also provide similar benefit.

there was a bayaan today in clapton by mufti umer farook. it sounded very beneficial. except, i could only hear it and not LISTEN to it. my kids were screaming. insha'llah i shall obtain the recording of this and listen to it in peace.
rujie, ive heard that one too. but i was advised to take the coach instead.

any other literature that i should take? or should that suffice?? (remember bayaans will also be on the list)
thinking of also taking an ipod.
which would be recommended; ipod nano or mp3?? (i have no idea on either of them)

i have seen the caps that both these establishments sell and they are both the same. i am trying to trace one more contact, IF i find it i will post it up here, it is a lady in leicester who personally makes them herself (not sure if she still makes them or her whereabouts)

When you go there, everything will seem so easy.
Personally i recommend the books listed and that's it, as the sisters in the groups will defiantely help u out if u need it.
Anyway, that's my opinion, unless I've misunderstood your post: forgive me.
Jazakallah all for the links etc., insha'Allah they'll be very beneficial to me esp.

In terms of other books, then suggest reading/taking Fazaaile Hajj. This is very good for the spritual element of Hajj.

With regards to ipod etc DON'T take such expensive things - might get lost. If you do wanna take something to listen to buy a very cheap one like I did . I brought a cheap cd/mp3 player off ebay brand new with full in-line remote for 15. Cant go wrong. Then just took one mp3 cd with all my Molly Saleems Hajj bayaans and some others, plus few mp3 naats/asheeds. best heard when in safar. Few in my Hajj group also said my 15 cd/mp player was a better idea then their 75/100 mp3 player.
Someone above made a point that better time spent in ebaadat. I agree - hearing bayaans such as Molly Saleems and others are also considered ebaadat, learning and also gives a boost to imaan (not so much naats/nasheeds though but they also have there merits/virtues). The benefit/noor derived from purely ebaadat cannot be derived from bayaans and the benefit/noor derived from bayaans cannot be derived from ebaadat. both have there unique noors/benefits for our imaan which cannot be replaced by increasing one over the other. Each amaals benefit is unique to that particular amaal alone and cannot be found in others. But try not hear too much when in Makkah or Madinah as its best to do the amaals specific to these places i.e tawaf, ziyarah or just as much ibadat in the harams as you can as bayaans you can listen to when at home in London but tawafs etc you cant. Tawafs are the highest form of ibadaat whilst in Makkah. And ziyarahs the highest whilst in Madinah.
Also remember its not the amount of tawafs you do its the quality of the tawafs that you do. People get carried away trying to perform so many in the main mataaf area (ground floor near the kaba) just so they can do as much as they can. But by doing so here its very very very hard to not rub up against non-mahrams and ALL the time your looking out for where the next push/shove will come from other Hajis be they women or men. Its VERY hard to concentrate on whet your praying with proper humility and devotion. Near impossible I'd say. For this reason we done mostly all our tawafs on the 1sr floor or roof as its soooo easy there. No pushing, shoving or rubbing whatsoever. You can concentrate on each word you say/pray with full conviction and devotion - praying allahoakbar, allhumdolillah etc pondering over each words/tasbihs meaning fully. Or basically walking round the Haram praying quran slowly (no fixed zikar for tawaf). Might take you 45mins to 1hr 15mins for one tawaf but I'd found it much more beneficial in doing these long tawafs then the ones on the ground floor near kaba which takes around 20-30 mins. Don't worry about when you hear people say "oh we did 5, 6, 7, tawafs today etc today". One 1hrs15mins tawaf with no rubbing, pushing, shoving is miles betters then 3/4 30mins tawafs done with rubbing, pushing, shoving and do concentration on whats being read/prayed. Quality NOT quantity.

who is the author? can this be found at azhar academy? and i assume it is in urdu??
as suggested by yourself or daywalk3r (cant remember which1), it would ideal to take it for the long journies. listening to the bayaans can refresh my mind. (when im tired, i cannot read. my eyes go blury and zzzzzz) so listening may keep me more alert. [quote] (Maulana Saleem's Urdu Bayaan is split into sections and hence you can listen to specific sections eg pelting prior to carrying it out.
jazakallah for that. thats incredibly useful.

Was originally written in urdu I beleive, so should be available from Azhar (worth calling them since site does not list all their urdu books)

This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
