Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

Just thought it would be beneficial to start up a thread on resources, yaani books bayaans etc that people have found useful when preparing for Hajj..

Hajj is a journey of a lifetime and the last thing that anyone would want is to be unprepared for such a great blessing..

Please feel free to add info..

Hope this thread helps intending pilgrims a teeny bit Inshallah Ta'ala

Wassalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah

I have personally found the series of guides on Hajj, Umrah, Ziyarah and Salaam by Maulana Saleem Dhorat very informative and to the point..

You can but these from here.. (Only costs 2 Pounds for 4 books!)

Or alternatively have a look at the pdf version of the Hajj guide

The Hajj, Umrah & Ziyarah Map & Guide is really good if you want to be able to visualise what will be happening over the course of Hajj..

PersonaIIy thinking the onIy books you need are the 4 books of moIana saIeem dhorat DB for the body of hajj and fazaiI-e-hajj by Sheikh Zakaria RAH for the souI of hajj. At each stage of hajj when going and returning boths sets shouId be read thoroughIy with humiIity and devoution. Every tour group shouId use these simpIe books as an integraI part of there hajj program.

Those few who want to know a few more hajj masaIahs in depth wiII find MuaIimuI-hujjaj a good source.

at the moment as far as i know, tour group leaders are in the process of being given free hajj literature, (editor; Shaykh Muhammad Saleem Dhorat Saheb) which they can pass on to those who will be travelling with them.
Masjid tauheed, (not sure if its spelt correctly) the masjid on eastham high st, on top of Somerfields supermarket, are holding a hajj lecture on sunday 26th November, and as far as i know they have been given the same leaflets to distribute.

Consideration neeeds also to be given to material aspects for first timers e.g. appropriate jabs, provisions for Muzdalifa etc.

I know these are incidental and in the Prophet's (PBUH) time they never had such things as good sleeping bags, it's important for us of weak faith to take some minimum precautions.

Those 4 books allahumadulla are great, easy to understand especially for a first timer who is going to hajj, but sometime you also need someone with experience (haji) to go through everything about hajj ( well as much as they can) in order to get a better understanding.

And

Brother Daywalk3r you are right it was not in stamfordhill the bayhan on hajj but somewhere else for men (my mistake sorry)

there are no update versions available, as i have also enquired in the past, the original tapes have been found to be sufficient and adequate in knowledge includes the necessary info a person performing hajj/ummrah, needs to know ( sometimes too much info, can cause confusion/mistakes)

i know i'm not saying otherwise. the mussafir masIah has changed though in mecca. this needs to be amended in the MoIIY SaIeem hajj books and aIso in his bayaans as the oId masIah is stiII there. Iast year quite a few brothers and sisters had to make up qaza for saIaats they prayed as qasr when it shouId have been fuII as a resuIt of this confusion. i'm 100% sure the same wiII happen again this year. it not onIy effects us in UK but those MoIIy SaIeem books have become famous gIobaIIy so you'II have hundreds stiII foIIowing the oId ruIing.
