a forwrded message that touched me soooo much that i had to share with you all.

Assalaamu 'Aleykum waRahmatullaahi waBarakaatuh,
I wanted to share with you all an experience I had today which moved me deeply.

A sister asked me to teach her 5 year old son hifdh-ul-Qur'aan (memorisation of the Qur'aan) and I just had my first class with this gifted child today.

His name is Ismaa'eel and is of Asian/Turkish-Cypriot background. He doesn't know how to read Arabic nor does he speak or understand the language but subhaanallaah, at his tender age, by the Blessing of Allaah and then his mother's hard work, he has memorised the whole of Juz 'Amma, maashaAllaah.

I always hear stories about young children of his age who have memorised the
whole Qur'aan with Tajweed also, but have never met one in person.

Ismaa'eel is like any child his age, naughty and noisy with a very short attention span. But unlike most kids his age, he has an amazing love for the Qur'aan.
Everytime I told him to take a 5 minute break, he would say, no lets carry on
with more Qur'aan. At the end of the lesson, he said to me that he loves Surah ar-Rahmaan and wants to memorize all of it (he has already learnt
about a third, simply from repeatedly listening to its recitation from tapes).

He asked me to recite it to him and as I did so, he began to cry profusely and
breathing heavily. I had no idea what was happening and thought he was feeling
some pain. So I stopped to ask him what was wrong and he told me to continue and so I did, and he continued to cry with his head buried in his hands.
When I finished, I asked him again what the matter was and he replied saying, "These are Allaah's Words and they are so beautiful."

Subhaanallaah. This is coming from a small 5 year old child. He doesn't understand
a word of what he is hearing but something in his heart knew what Allaah's
words were and the power and might they carried to the point that it made him cry. I felt so ashamed at myself and wondered how many times I weeped to such an extent when remembering Allaah.

We are much older than Ismaa'eel, understand the Qur'aan much more than he does and have more knowledge of the deen than him but yet our hearts are so hard that Allaah's words do not move us.
