- Majalis e Hasanah - by Maulana Faisal Ahmed Nadwi Bhatkali (haf) . These are the Majalis of Mufakkir e Islam Hazrat Maulana Syed Abul Hasan Ali sahab Nadwi رحمة الله عليه

The writer is a talented person Masha Allah.. Recipient of Shah Faisal Award for his work on seerat in Arabic.

Amazing book.. covering 582 pages dedicated to the ulema who fought against foreign rule.. beginning in th 1500's when the ulema of Calicut (kerala) rose against the Portuguese who in the zeal of spreading Christianity..began to torment the Muslims & demolishing the Masajids . A fact ignored by the historians.

The ulema declared Jihad obligatory against the Portugese. on the other hand the ulema from Hadhramaut who had reached calicut fighting the Portugese, began to motivate the people to rise up and take arms against the oppressors.
It was a time when the ulema..sadaat (syed) and other noble families from Hadhramaut migrated to India.. these Portuguese would confront them enroute resulting in skirmishes.

It marked the beginning which laid the struggle for independence that fanned over a period of about 450 years till 1947. The crown of glory belongs to these ulema who laid the foundation.

I have just randomly flipped through..and its something colonel sahab would love to get his hands on.. :-)
