Activate please. I don't see any issues with it. Could be an accidental error!

Here is the original until it gets sorted, apologies Desi tadka.

As salaamu wa alay kum wa rahmatullahi wa barakth,

Of the few pages and paragraphs (about 30 pages) that I read of the book, Ibn Battuta by L. P. Harvey, I felt like being in the company of a --------- wife (sorry for the strong word), who is deeply pessimistic and doubts if you really had work in the office when you said you’d be coming home late. Ibn Battuta 05

My all time favourite! I don't know any other book in English language which puts you that close to the Sahaba Karaam (RA)!

If you havn't read it, where have you been all your life?

Read Hayatus-Sahaba online

I have to acquire this one insha'allah. I saw it in a masjid during jamat and was amazed at the difference. We have the older version at home with the translation done by someone from India. The book itself is very old with the paper of poor quality and the ink smudged so we never really felt like reading it.

Also saw Mufti A.H. Elias's kitab "Death" and his tarjuma of the Holy Qur'an. very good stuff.

Kitab al-Tawheed.

Any version really. Made me realize why I knew I shouldn't be a barelwi.

Passed it to my dad, who put a cover over it so his co-workers didn't know what he was reading.

MashaAllah, changed the whole perspective of his aqeedah, he now considers himself a Deobandi Barelwi. He's not 100% Barelwi or Deobandi, although I see him closer to the Deobandi school.

Fatawa Rahimiyah - (Volumes 1-10) - By Shaykh Mufti Abdur Raheem Lajpuri (r.a)

I always had questions and they always had answers.

They were one of my first companions, and recommend to me by my friend Mufti Yaseen Shaikh.

I almost took a set of these books some time ago, They are the best books I have, unfortunately I only have the first 3 volunes in English. Here is the whole collection in Urdu.

The first two books that help jolt me back into the deen was the spectacle of death by kwaaja muhammad Islam. And the second book was kitaabul imaan by the mujlisul ulema of South Africa.i bought the spectacle of death in a Pakistani grocery store. The cover of the book didn't say much and was old looking. but when I started reading it, the reality of death hit me hard and I wasn't the same any more. I love that book because It reminds us all that life will come to an end every human being will have to face allah. The book made me cry out of love and fear of allah. As for kitaabul imaan, I was given a photo copy by a brother who became my close friend. Thru that book I came to adopt the hanafi mathab.before reading it , I was heavily contemplating on becoming a salafi but thank allah I found the truth through this book and the ulema who wrote other books that Help direct me in the right path.alhemdulillah

Imam Abd Al-Wahhab bin Ahmad Al-Misri Al-Sharani Ash'shaf'e [1493-1565] is an Imam of Shaf'ae Madhab and a Master of Tassawuff and amongst his many compilations is البحر المورود في المواثيق والعهود

In this book the notable describes how he travelled across the world and met many Tassawuff Mashaykh and each of them made him promise something so the book is a series of pledges and promises (over 1,000).

Shaykh (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA) made his nephew Shaykh (Maulana) Zafar Ahmed Thanwi (RA) an outstanding Faqih translate, annotate and reference this work into Urdu

In my view this is the MOST OUTSTANDING book on Tassawuff ever written.  There are no technical issues or terminologies or repeated Dhik’r but behaviour pattern and guidance on how to behave in different circumstances e.g.  How to behave when:

  1. You are entrusted to be an Ameer and given responsibility
  2. You get married to an extremely pretty woman
  3. You happen to be in Darul-Harb
  4. You happen to be accused of theft or irregularities
  5. In your city another Shaykh of another Silsila arrives
  6. How to sense arrogance and how knowledge produces it etc.

The additional notes and commentary by Shaykh (Maulana) Zafar Ahmed Thanwi (RA) is outstanding. This book was handpicked by Shaykh (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA)  because in his view this is real Tassawuff and its essence.

The books talks about outstanding anecdotes e.g. when travelling through (some part of Islamic land) he pledges to a Shaykh that children shouldn’t be named Muhammad! Title makes you scratch your head but when you read further in that area people had started pronouncing “Muhammad” as “Mehmet” so this particular Shaykh of Tassawuff advised against the names of Sayyidina Rasul-ullah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) from being denigrated and advised his Mureeds to call their children “Ahmed” because it couldn’t be mispronounced.

Footnotes discuss the opinions and quotations of Shaykh (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA)

Since I have been practising Islam until now I have found Riyadus-Saliheen of Imam Nawawi (RA) indispensable. There are following qualities in this book which isn’t find in any Hadeeth book (of Virtues [Fadhail]) :

  1. Its a classic
  2. Trusted and followed by Ulamah over the last 700 years!
  3. It was written specifically for beginners/students
  4. There are no fabricated/extremely weak Ahadeeth in it at all
  5. Its very coherently laid out and organised.

No Muslim should be without indepth study of this book. Read it here

DO NOT BUY THE BUTCHERED SALAFI VERSION but stick to the original as compiled by the Master of Hadeeth Imam Nawawi (RA).

assalam o alaikum

hope all are having a good/spiritual ramadhan.. my choice would be "ikhtilaaf-e-ummat aur siraat-e-mustaqeem"(disagreement of ummah and the right path) by Mufti Muhammad Yousuf Ludhianwi rehmatullah alayh..the link is of the Urdu version but if anyone knows of an English version which is trustworthy they can tell the mods and my post can be edited accordingly..
there are many beauties of this book:

*written by one of the most authentic mufti of his time..the day he died, I heard that Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai rehmatullah alayh said (more or less) no one could say a word in regards of his fatawaas..
*very easy, step by step understanding of all modern/old fitnaas and what are their position in the light of The Qur'an, the Hadeeth and Khair ul Quroon(the Sahabaa rizwanullahi taala ajmaeen).. the book contains the questions and their answers which a muslim has in his/her mind regarding different sects. infact its the collection of Moulana's fatawaas.
* a must read, especially by young people who want to know what is right and what is wrong..
