Lecture
of Hadrat Mauln In`mul-Hasan Sb. Rahmatullhi `Alayhi at Tongi Ijtim`, Dhaka, 7th January 1995
My dear friends,
Allh Ta`l has not only sent us to this world but He has also guided us as to how we should lead our lives. The way of life chosen for us by Allh Ta`l is what we refer to as Dn. Dn is not merely the name of a few actions and rituals. Dn is a way of life, which involves all aspects of human life. No part of life can be devoid of Dn, whether it is related to mn (faith), `Ibdah (devotions), Akhlq (conduct), Ma`malt (dealings), or Ma`sharat (social life). These are the five aspects of Dn. To adhere to the commandments of Allh Ta`l according to the Sunnat of Raslullh Sallallhu `Alayhi Wasallam in the aforementioned five aspects is Dn.
Allh Ta`l has bestowed us with a way of life which if followed, will ensure our success in both this world as well as the hereafter. Allh Ta`l is well aware of the requirements of His creation. He has not left us with an incomplete way of life. In fact a person who obeys Him will achieve success in both worlds. Allh Ta`l will grant him Barakah in in this world and elevate his rank in the hereafter as well.
Man's knowledge and intelligence is limited. So he does not what is detrimental to him or what is beneficial to him neither in the past nor in the future. Only in following the Sunnat of Raslullh Sallallhu `Alayhi Wasallam lies our eternal success. Any other way of life is sure to lead to utter failure and loss. There will be no benefit except temporary benefit. A man's intelligence and personal judgement will be of no use in the hereafter.
From the time Allh Ta`l sent the children of dam `Alayhis-Salm to this world, He sent them with spiritual guidance as well. Every era had a Nab with a Tarqah (way of life) befitting the demands of that era. As each Nab left this world, another Nab was sent. The chain of prophethood ended with the advent of Raslullh Sallallhu `Alayhi Wasallam. Now there will be no more Prophets nor will there be any new Tarqah. There is no need for any new Tarqah. The advent of the Ambiy has terminated but the work of the Ambiy has not terminated. With the Barakah of Raslullh Sallallhu `Alayhi Wasallam, the duty of the Ambiy has been entrusted to this Ummat. On the day of judgement, other Ummats will exclaim that this Ummat has the attributes of the Ambiy. This Ummat has received the treasure of the Nabs. What is this treasure? This is the treasure of D`awat (inviting others to Allh Ta`l). When D`awat comes alive, all the aspects of Dn will be revived. Due to the lack of D`awat, evil has entered our lives.
Imm Mlik Rahmatullhi `Alayhi says that the latter part of this Ummat will be rectified only if they adopt the same efforts adopted by the former amongst them. And that effort is the effort of D`awat. The greater the effort of D`awat, the more good deeds will be produced. And more good deeds will bring in its wake more Barakah. Allh Ta`l has initiated this Tarqah and whomsoever adopts this Tarqah will be under the Rahmat (mercy) of Allh Ta`l. And whomsoever does not obey the commandments of Allh Ta`l brings harm unto himself alone.
All the Ambiy adopted this effort of D`awat. Nowadays, people say that we should improve Islm, some say we should develop the material world, some say acquire lofty positions and through that we will achieve development. However, the Ambiy made effort on the hearts of the people. Once the hearts are in order, then everything else will also be in order. Everything will then come back to its natural state. The fields of the efforts of the Ambiy were the hearts so that mn may enter the hearts.
We should adopt the effort of D`awat as our personal duty and the duty of everyone else. Everyone should be involved in the work of D`awat. We should regard the work of D`awat as our rightly guided way. As Allh Ta`l says in the Holy Qurn: "Say (O Nab!), this is my way. I invite towards Allh (and the way) of those who follow me." So those who claim to be from amongst the Ummat of Raslullh Sallallhu `Alayhi Wasallam and profess to follow his Sunnat, their way is also the way of D`awat
