If your able to please share around in your personal contacts.
ANYONE in the UK or even outside it can fill this Hackney consultation survey, you do NOT need to be a resident of Hackney to complete it.
"*PLEASE RESPOND TO THE TWINNING CONSULTATION*
As you may already know, July's Hackney Council Meeting agreed in principle to start the process of terminating Hackney's twinning arrangement with Haifa. This is good news! But there are many challenges ahead.
The council is running a consultation and we know the Zionists are mobilising masses of responses so every pro Palestine voice counts!
The result of the survey is unlikely to be legally binding but it is important to share it far and wide. You do NOT need to live in Hackney to complete it.
✊🏿 The photos show how to complete questions 3-5 to emphasise the problems with the Haifa twinning.
✊ Q6 is a free response question on twinnings - do name Haifa and give a personal reason why you want this twinning to end.
✊🏾 Q9 is a free response question on Haifa - use this, saying something different than you did in Q6.
The other questions are either straightforward or demographics.
You could include these reasons why Hackney should untwin from Haifa:
• Haifa hosts the main Israel naval military base
• it is the principal port for weapons shipments
• Elbit Systems, Israel's largest weapon manufacturer has its HQ in Haifa
• Rambam Hospital is for military (IDF) casualties as well as civilian patients
• As an Israeli city the so-called Basic Law of 2018 applies, officially classifying Palestinian-Israelis as second class citizens
• The recently enacted, explicitly racist death penalty law, passed by the Knesset, also applies in Haifa
• Haifa in April 1948 was at the centre of the Nakba with c 95% of the city's then Palestinian population expelled by Hagannah forces."
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
