The Commander of the Faithful, Walid bin Abdul-Malik, sent an order to the governor of Madinah, Umar bin Abdul-Aziz RA, to demolish the blessed chambers of the Mothers of the Believers in order to expand the Prophet's Mosque; while demolishing the other chambers, Umar bin Abdul-Aziz RA also demolished the chamber of the Mother of the Believers, Aisha Siddiqa RA . Consequently, the graves of the Prophet SAS, Abu Bakr al-Siddiq RA, and Umar al-Faruq RA were exposed...

At that moment, Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz RA wept so profusely that he had never been seen crying like that before—even though he himself had issued the order to demolish the chambers. He subsequently ordered the reconstruction of Sayyida Aisha’s RA chamber, and that blessed chamber was rebuilt. My purpose in recounting this is not to encourage the construction of domes over graves; rather, it is to illustrate the profound impact and resonance that the graves of great figures hold in people's hearts—a fact evident from Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz’s RA uncontrollable weeping and the displeasure expressed by the Muslim world at that time.
