It looks like fatwafinder.org and islamqa.org are both powered by Google so relevance is not determined by either. Synonym Search is available on both because it's what Google implements on every search query. The only differences I can see is that Fatwa Finder categorises by continent whereas IslamQA categorises by Madh-hab. There are very few Fatwa that differ based on location and many questions asked are not fixed by location so personally I can't think of a reason to have this categorisation. Madhhab categorisation on the other hand is very useful.
Fatwa Finder only indexes "Fatwa Boards" according to them whereas IslamQA indexes many entities that provide a Q&A. I guess it makes sense since it's in the name, IslamQA, FatwaFinder. However, FatwaFinder is a Q&A index and not specifically Fataawa only. There's a difference between the two.
E.g. I searched: "hand position in salaah" on both sites
The first result on Fatwa Finder is "How to perform Prayer" which is not a Fatwa nor is it a Q&A. It's actually an article.
IslamQA's top 5 results are all relevant to what I searched. The reason for this is that FatwaFinder's results are from Google where IslamQA indexes the sites themselves and Google indexes IslamQA giving more relevant results. This also means that IslamQA can have a fallback local search on their own data whereas if Google services change anything then FatwaFinder could be down for days.
I think IslamQA is sufficient. FatwaFinder is a good idea but I don't see real practical use of the service for the above reasons unfortunately. Let's hope I'm wrong inshaAllah.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
