Dr Israr Ahmad RH gave a speech shortly after the Babri Masjid demolition in India in 1992.

Summary:

- I say with full conviction, and have been saying it for a long time, that Pakistan is the biggest criminal of the Muslim Ummah, after the Arabs. I say this because we Pakistanis are the only ones in the world who have created a nation on the basis of Islam. No other country in the world was created with Islam as its foundation.

- We Pakistanis are the ones who created a nation at the cost of the lives of hundreds of thousands of Muslim men, women and children, and the honor of thousands of Muslim girls and women, and no one knows how many more Muslim girls and women were left behind in the clutches of the Sikhs.

- It has been decades since we formed this country. Have we fulfilled our promise of establishing Islam here?

- We are the worst criminals after the Arabs, because our excuse is that the Quran was not revealed in our native language.

- We Pakistanis are also responsible for all that is befalling the Muslims of India. I want you to understand this very well. Indian Muslims did us a favor by giving us a nation of our own, and they are paying for this at the hands of the Hindu fundamentalist majority even to this day. The Hindu fundamentalists having been saying very clearly that we shall exterminate Muslims and Islam from India in totality. We are content in our lives here, while the Muslims in India, who made sacrifices and gave us this nation, are going through hell. I am not saying this as an emotional outburst. I can prove this as clear as day.

- Maulana Azad RH and Maulana Madani RH had said you will divide the Muslims of India into three parts with this demand for Pakistan. Maulana Azad RH had predicted that Pakistan would disintegrate into two parts within 25 years, and that is precisely what happened. We used to say that India would be under threat from (Pakistani) Muslims both from the East and West, and they would never dare threaten the Muslims of India. What happened to those assurances? Pakistan and Bangladesh could not even bring themselves to release a joint statement condemning the destruction of the Babri Masjid. This is how fragmented the Muslims had become.

- We Pakistanis betrayed Islam, so now today in Pakistan there are ethnic, linguistic, sectarian, and regional identities. Where is the unity now? What happened to a united Muslim challenge to Hinduism and Hindutva?

- Earlier when there were communal riots in India, Muslims from all over undivided India would reach the affected areas and bring succor. What did we Pakistanis do after the Babri Masjid demolition? We demolished hundreds of Hindu temples in our lands. Islam does not allow us to punish someone for the crimes of another. We were responsible for protecting the temples of our minorities, but we showed much bravado in revenge demolitions. With these acts, we defamed Islam, and gave Hindus the moral high ground, because they took remedial steps such as resignation of top level officials as punitive action against the demolition. We know this was an eyewash, but the international community saw that the Hindu response was mature and reasonable.

- All our short-sighted bravado filled reactions to the excesses against Muslims of India have strengthened the fascist forces in India.

- I cannot comment on the authenticity of the incident, but at the last supper, when Sayyiduna Isa (AS) broke off a piece of bread and gave it to his companions, he said, "Eat, and this is my flesh," and when he gave them a sip to drink, he said, "Drink, and this is my blood." Whenever Muslims were slaughtered in India, I would feel like I was eating the flesh of Indian Muslims and drinking their blood when I sat down to eat. This feeling gradually left me when I saw how Muslims killed and burnt Muslims here in Pakistan. All the ease we enjoy here in Pakistan is at the cost of the oppression of Muslims in India. Indian Muslims sacrificed to give you this country, and they have been paying the price for this ever since. While here in Pakistan, the moment one of us comes by some wealth, the first we discard is Islam.

- Hindu fundamentalism is on the rise in India. The Congress will not be able to survive their onslaught (Remember, here Dr Sahab RH predicting this in 1992). When Muslims protested against the demolition in India, they were killed by the police. What can the Indian Muslims do? They are powerless against the armed forces and the police.

- Whatever barbarity the Muslims of India are enduring, we here in Pakistan should be worried about what will become of us. Some so-called intellectuals among us here say with much glee that India will soon disintegrate. That it will, but the calamity that is going to befall us here in Pakistan cannot be imagined by us. (Another remarkable prediction by Dr. Israr RH about the bloodshed in Pakistan a decade later).

- We are the true criminals who have made merry here in Pakistan at the cost of Muslims of India. We are sucking their blood when we engage in the delights of this temporary world here in Pakistan. Our punishment has begun its descent on us. However, like the people of Sayyiduna Yunus bin Matta (AS), there is hope for us if we repent now and change our ways.
