1949: Attempt 1

Objectives Resolution: Preamble to the Constitution of Pakistan

  • Sovereignty over the entire universe belongs to Allah Almighty alone and the authority which He has delegated to the state of Pakistan, through its people for being exercised within the limits prescribed by Him is a sacred trust.
  • The Muslims shall be enabled to order their lives in the individual and collective spheres in accordance with the teachings and requirements of Islam as set out in the Holy Quran and Sunnah.

1977: Attempt 2

Pakistan National Alliance (Nizam-e-Mustafa Movement)

An alliance of all political parties of Pakistan to change the constitution and rule by Qur'aan and Sunnah. The movement was disbanded when President General Ziaul-Haq became the military dictator of Pakistan and remained in power for the next 11 years.

2020: Attempt 3

Referendum to establish Presidential system and abolish the current parliamentarian system.

Quote:
A constitutional petition has been filed in the Supreme Court, seeking direction to the prime minister for holding referendum about the establishment of presidential form of government in Pakistan.

The petition is filed by Tahir Aziz Khan, the chairman of a political party called the Hum Awam Pakistan, under Article 184 (3) of the Constitution. One of the main objectives of the Hum Awam Pakistan is to establish presidential form of government in the country.

The petitioner seeks direction from the apex court to the Prime Minister of Pakistan to hold a referendum, as provided under the Clause 6 of the Article 48 of the Constitution to determine whether the people of Pakistan for their welfare and wellbeing want Presidential form of government or not.

The petition states that it is apparent from the print, electronic and social media that an overwhelming majority of the people are fed up with the parliamentary form of government and want to adopt the presidential form of government.

However, when you listen to the person who has filed the petition in Supreme Court he is calling for implementation of Shariah and a "Presidential system" is the first step to the pathway, interesting views...

They have a long way to go ahead of them. The video has 35 views and the channel had 38 subscribers. Not exactly a groundswell of support.

Its not a political movement but a case which is in Supreme Court, it doesn't matter about the views.

The case has been approved for litigation.

This is a debate you cannot win with the current Muslims, be it Pakistani or any other nationality. I am tired of talking about it now. The entire Muslim ummah is currently living under the delusion that an "Islamic" government will be able to turn around the fortunes of the Muslims, no one is willing to admit that the turnaround has to start inside their own homes.

There are 2 ways of doing it:

Top-Down approach
and
Bottom-Up Approach.

Both have to move in parallel. Both groups must not cross each other.

The summary of following urdu couplet is:

There can be difference of opinion on how to get the goal.
When we are moving towards a common goal, then why don't we move together.
When we are stuck with our ego, how can we face the enemy.
This is not loss of a community, it dents and hurts Islam itself.
How can we live in peace when there is chaos in our surroundings.

In the Pakistani Constitution, 2/3rd of the National Assembly and Senate needs to approve a constitutional change (just like India).

It is likely that the Supreme Court will defer the matter to the constitutional Assembly and since Imran Khan has not even a majority let alone 2/3rd, nothing will happen.

But when this goes on record, it will set a precedence in Pakistani legal system and it will advance the cause of Islamisation.

I may be wrong and I hope that I am wrong and against all odds Supreme Court actually grants a referendum!
