Claim: Photo shows the situation of the Nur Kahan air base in Pakistan after India targeted it in the May 2025 Operation Sindoor.

To check the veracity of the claim, we performed a keyword search on the internet to find visuals of the damage caused by the Indian air strikes at Pakistan’s Nur Khan air base located in Chaklala, Rawalpindi. This search led us to a few news reports (here and here), which showed the satellite images of the destruction caused by the Indian strikes. These images are similar to the one presented by Air Marshal A K Bharti during a press conference on Operation Sindoor on 11 May 2025.

However, none of these reports or official press releases contained the visuals of the Nur Khan air base from the inside. We did not find any official reports from Pakistan, either, which showed the damage caused by Indian strikes inside the Nur Khan air base.

Therefore, to learn more about the viral photo, we performed a reverse image search and found many similar photos from the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant site. We found these photos on stock photo websites like Adobe Stock, Alamy, Flickr, news reports and and image sharing websites like Imgur (here, here, here, and here). Based on these, the viral photo shows the control room panel of Chernobyl’s reactor four.

Latest is China urgently pushing through more hardware to Pakistan, namely thE J35, Air Defence systems and the AWACS.

This lends credibility to reports of destruction of at least 1 or 2 PAF Saab AWIE AWACS and air defence systems by India during Operation Sindoor.

www.turkiyetoday.com/world/pakistan-confirms-acquisition-...

armyrecognition.com/news/aerospace-news/2025/analysis-wha...

The spec off the j35 remains to be seen but its also capable of firing the pl17 bvr giving it a much wider scope than the pl15.

Pakistan is in a pretty tricky spot right now because of all the tension brewing between Iran and Israel. It is not just their problem though. If something big changes in Iran, like the fall of its current government or military shake-ups, that ripple could reach Pakistan quickly. So it is safe to say there is a lot of quiet planning and number crunching happening in Islamabad as they try to figure out how this could all play out and what they would need to do in response.

Iran and Pakistan do not exactly have a warm or cold relationship. They have mostly kept things at arm's length. There have been some scuffles and disagreements over the years, but nothing that has turned into a full-on fight. It has usually stayed at the level of border skirmishes or behind-the-scenes spy activity. Some of that tension has been influenced by Iran being a bit cosy with India at times. Even so, the intelligence agencies from both sides have tried to keep things from getting out of hand. Still, that quiet understanding has not been strong enough to stop outside players from poking around or taking advantage of the situation.

What is heating things up now is what Israel is doing with Iran. It is not just about nukes anymore. Israel seems to be going after the whole Iranian leadership, not through open war but by using a mix of tricks like spies, cyber attacks, propaganda, and backing groups that want to see the current regime fall. Mossad, Israel's intelligence agency, is said to be active right inside Iran, trying to shake things up from the inside rather than just attacking from the outside.

That is where it starts to get uncomfortable for Pakistan. If Iran falls apart or ends up with a government that is friendly with Israel, the whole regional power balance could shift. Pakistan might suddenly find itself with a lot more trouble on its western border, whether that is chaos spilling over or a new neighbour that is not so friendly. Either way, it adds pressure and makes it harder for Pakistan to manage its own security and foreign affairs.

Then there is the growing teamwork between India and Israel. They are sharing tech, weapons, and intelligence like never before. This includes things like drones and cyber tools, and some of it has already been used during past India Pakistan flare ups. There is genuine worry that some of this gear and strategy could be used to stir things up in Balochistan, a region in Pakistan that is already dealing with unrest and separatist activity.

To make things even messier, there is a new link forming between the PKK, which fights against Turkey, and the BLA, which operates in Pakistan. If those two groups are starting to work together, and if they have got help coming from India or Israel in terms of weapons or intelligence, that could spell big trouble for both Turkey and Pakistan. It opens the door for a lot more instability in an already tense part of the world.

On top of all that, the United States has started placing sanctions on parts of Pakistan's military and missile programmes. It looks like Washington is getting more uneasy about Pakistan's strategic capabilities, and Israel might be playing a role in shaping that view. Israel likely sees Pakistan's nukes and missiles as a long-term risk and wants to keep them in check before they become even more of a problem. So this pressure is probably more about containing Pakistan than reacting to anything it has done recently.

All in all, if things in Iran take a serious turn, whether that is collapse, regime change, or major unrest, Pakistan could find itself facing threats on two sides. One from India in the east and the other from whatever replaces the current setup in Iran to the west. Even if nothing explodes into full-blown war, the pressure could still be enough to push Pakistan into making foreign policy decisions it would not normally consider. Those choices might not always work in its favour, but the country could be left with little room to move.

And then there is China, which has its own stake in this regional game. But that is a whole separate conversation with its own web of moves and interests, and it will need a closer look another time.

Regime change in Iran is not expected in near future, it is very far.

But it is tricky situation for India, it buys gas at cheaper rates from Iran and supports Israel in UN

I would disagree with you there, regime change is on the table. If iran does not agree to US terms then israel will be allowed to to do what it did with hezbollah leadership.

Not only that but civilian infrastructure will be hit over next few weeks to encourage rebellion. If the iranian people close ranks then that tactic would misfire.

The whole point of this attack by Israel is to enforce a regime change in Iran. That's what Iran has to be careful about. Not to give them what they want.

Remember attack on Pakistan brought pakistanis nearer to Army. Similarly attack on Iran shall bring Iranis nearer to Regime.

If Iranis foresee surrender they may go for suicide, use uncontrolled force ignoring its consequences.

Iran probably one of the few countries that has a significant number of their population who would be happy for regime change, as well.

Large numbers of Iranian populations in the west, are Atheist, or converted to Baha'i, religion , Christianity, or consider themselves Zoroastrian, and claim their heritage is Persian and Islam was imposed upon them by Arabs.

Within Iran, many of the younger generations want secularism, and westernisation.

I think the same could be said of arab societies, i just see it as a phase, if you have a leader who promotes anti islam and is secular, soon you will have a revolution and people desire for a religious type govt. When a religious type govt take power, they in turn go in heavy handed and start to surpress things like freedom of clothing, liberties, etc then people start to yearn for a system other than islam after 30 or 40 years. After years under a secular govt they want a change again to a more islamic one and teh whole cycle repeats.

Look at saudi society, its mainly the younger generation who wants 'freedom' and 'western indulgences' after living in a very rigid society and its being given to them by MBS, KSA population has grown from 9m in 80s to 37m today. The youith all need jobs, the only way to do it is to open the economy to other areas that were anethema like entertainment, tourism, etc

The balance is not there.

The Arab youth survey shows youth are becoming more religious.
muslimskeptic.com/2022/10/30/latest-arab-youth-survey/

Iran is different, for a number of factors, one and the most significant the incoherence of the Twelver Shia doctrine. Which does not stand up to critique or scrutiny.
Two, the sanctions regime imposed on Iran for the last 40 years that has stifled economic progress and improvement of livelihood for the last 2 generations. Three the propaganda that your heritage is Persian, that you belonged to a once great empire, your religion was Zoroastrian. And the Arabs destroyed your empire, your heritage and your religion, and your progress.

Many Iranians living in the west identify as Persian and not Iranian. And compared to the Arabs they have the most number of apostates who absolutely despise the mere mention of Islam.

Having said that there has also been a movement by the colonisers, in their culture subversion programmes. To promote pre-Islamic heritage in most Islamic countries.
Even in Saudi they are now celebrating pre-Islamic heritage,
And Al Lat and Al Uza. In Egypt it's the Pharaohs.
In Pakistan British funded an organisation a number of years ago to promote pre-Islamic Hindu heritage. Which failed to gain traction.

The place where this pre-Islamic heritage propaganda has gained the most traction is Iran.

Yes it's been on the radar for a good while, along with Turkey, although with Turkey they would prefer to just replace Erdogan, so far they have been unsuccessful. For this reason Pakistani government has come out strongly in support of Iran.

That's mostly for show and tell. Israel will never attack Pakistan in the current climate because Israel already has a favorable regime in Pakistan. The faasiq Pakistani military is as pro-Israel as it gets, not to mention many of the top officers may very well be directly on Israel's payroll.

And the Dajjali fitnah that this military is, it is deceiving the Muslims by asking the puppet government it has installed to speak in favour of Iran while behind the scenes the military has assured Trump that they won't help Iran at all.

There's a lot of things that people sitting outside of Pakistan do not understand about who controls Pakistan and what their plans are.
