Maybe fake news based on the 1923 Lausanne Treaty

The treaty recognized the boundaries of the modern state of Turkey. Turkey made no claim to its former Arab provinces and recognized British possession of Cyprus and Italian possession of the Dodecanese. The Allies dropped their demands of autonomy for Turkish Kurdistan and Turkish cession of territory to Armenia, abandoned claims to spheres of influence in Turkey, and imposed no controls over Turkey’s finances or armed forces. The Turkish straits between the Aegean Sea and the Black Sea were declared open to all shipping.

M.Ö. 209

www.kkk.tsk.tr/en/KKKHakkinda/KKKtarihce.aspx

The Hun Emperor Mete Khan’s accession to the throne in 209 B.C. is recognized as the foundation of the Army.

The largest unit in the Turkish Regular Army under Mete Khan was named a “division,” comprising 10,000 horsemen; which were further divided into units of thousands, hundreds and tens. Each division was assigned a Division Commander, Major, Captain or Corporal who was interconnected within the chain of command.

This organization model initiated by Mete Khan existed within the other old Turkish states, among which the Turkish Army was one of the most prominent in the world, especially during the era of the Kök Turks, Uighurs, Seljuks and Ottomans.

Today on the 28th of June 2020 marks the 2229's anniversary of the Turkish land forces.

Hagia Sophia Ruling: Delayed for 15 days

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-53232110

A Turkish court has delayed a decision on whether the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul can be converted into a mosque.

The Council of State - Turkey's highest administrative body - said it would make a ruling within 15 days, after a hearing lasting just 17 minutes.

A brief history of Hagia Sophia (Constantinople)

  1. May330: Emperor Constantine builds the most magnificent city and makes it the Capital of Roman Empire.
  2. Jan411: Theodosius II build 60 foot (triple wall fortification) which is impregnable and remains so until breached by Muslims centuries later.
527: Justinian I ascend the throne and retains Constantinople and Hippodrome becomes the centre of World Politics and discourse. Throughout the Justinian rein Christianity is engulfed in schisms but Constantinople remains impregnable due to its defences and triple walled fornications.
  3. 570: Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) born in Makkah, predicts the falls of Constantinople and promises paradise for the Conqueror
  4. 674: Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (RA) becomes Shaheed in the conquest of Constantinople but it remains out of reach of Muslims who continue to try to conquer Constantinople
  5. 726: European Christianity is overtaken by worship of images and symbols. Leo III the Isaurian issues a decree against images and destroys the "idols of Christ" making him fiercely unpopular in Europe. A new Christian movement Byzantine Iconoclasm (war on Images) is born.
  6. 730: Leo III the Isaurian carries out repairs to the fortifications and Theodosian walls damaged by constant attacks by Muslims. Raises huge taxes on local population to finance the repairs
  7. 800/900/1000/1100: Christianity in Europe is further reduced to worship of images and symbols but Orthodox Christianity remains firm with Constantinople at its centre.
  8. 26AUG1071: The Battle of Manzikert was fought between the Byzantine Empire and the Seljuk Empire and Turks begin to enter the mix.The Emperor Romanus Diogenes is captured by Turks and then released but he is tortured and killed by Michael VII Ducas
  9. 1073: Seljuk Empire wins Anatolia and Muslims begin to get closer to Constantinople
  10. 25JULY1197: Constantinople struck by a huge fire, Latin quarters is completely destroyed and city is damaged.
  11. 1203: Europeans Crusaders in aid of Isaac II Angelos try to breach Constantinople and eventually crown Alexios IV Angelos
  12. 1204: Riots continue between anti-Crusader Greeks and pro-Crusader Latins broke out and lasted until November, during which most of the populace began to turn against Emperor Alexios IV.
  13. 1204: pro-Crusader Latins conquer Constantinople and "Latin Occupation" of Constantinople begins
  14. 1261: Michael VIII Palaiologos recaptures Constantinople and declares it as the Centre of Orthodox Christianity
  15. 29MAY1453: Mehmed II conquers Constantinople and immediately Christians hand over Hagia Sophia to Muslims as a peace gesture which is turned into a Mosque.
  16. 27NOV1934: Ata-Turk closes the Mosque and turns it into a Mosque
  17. 09JUL2020: Turkish Council of State unanimously cancels the decision of 1934

Now, we can expect war and bloodshed over the issue of Hagia Sophia which is the most sacred place of Orthodox Christianity.

Turks are prepared to go to war for this issue because it is the centrepiece of Turk pride and Hagia Sophia is the crown Jewel of Ottoman military glory. Expect the world Media to cry about this...

Why was Hagia Sophia converted into a Mosque?

In 2020, we have many pseudo intellectuals like Shaykh Imran Hossein (HA) and other Muslims who are raising objections about the conversion of a "Church" into a Mosque and thus Sultan Muhammad Fateh (RA) does not deserve the accolades awarded to him by Nabi (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam). There are multiple answers to this questions.

Since 1453, there have been NO MUSLIM SCHOLARS who have ever given Fatwa that conversion of Hagia Sophia to a Mosque was incorrect. Even when the Wahabi (Saudi) uprising started in 1800s they were and still are against the Ottomans this issue was not raised.

It has now been raised by some Egyptian Scholars and wording used is "Ottoman Occupation". This is all you need to know about such Fatwaas.

Secondly, there were/are hundreds of Churches throughout Ottoman empire and still are so there are no issues with Churches.

Thirdly, Hagia Sophia wasn't only a Church but a political, military and ideological centre for Orthodox Christianity. They believed that no harm can come to Orthodox Christianity as long as Hagia Sophia stands, just look at the reaction from Greece and Russia in 2020.

So now the scenario has two possibilities:

  1. Christians handed over Hagia Sophia to Muslims in abject surrender and accepted it being turned into a Mosque
  2. Sultan Muhammad Fateh (RA) did it deliberately and wilfully to break the back of Orthodox Christian rebellion and resistance in Muslim lands. This second option may not be politically correct (in 2020) but perfectly valid in Islam when lands are conquered by Jihad (i.e. Turkey) it was valid.

Why do scholars have an issue when the church was either handed over or purchased fairly!

Plenty of churches around the world are now mosques or schools.

Azhar Academy Girls school in London.

Because Arabs HATE the Ottomans and they are using it as an issue and they will certainly not quote a Church converted to Azhar Academy in London.

Arabs revolved against the Khilafah at the urging of British and got their own (Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Jordan)

You missed the first point, it was never an issue since 1453 by any Ulama.

P.S: Erturgal is banned in some Arab countries and that should tell you all you need to know about Arab hatred for the Ottomans.
