Why are Deobandees and Evangelical Christians (both) attracted to right-wing conspiracy nutjobs? What leads both of these groups to be attracted to the same set of individuals?
What are we missing in the analysis of both of these groups? Is it a specific interpretation of end-time discussions in Islam and Christianity? Is it lose of hope? Is it frustration at the prevalence of sin and evil?
I think that religious people (Muslims and Christians) refer to scholars for guidance and in this area of mapping events in the scripture (Islam and Christianity) to contemporary events by scholars is lacking. Then there is a lot of frustration to try to make sense of ever changing events which makes people turn to "conspiracy right wing nuts" because in the mindset of people their explanations make sense.
For example, many Muslims & Christians believe that the "last war" will be fought in a certain way but how do we go from multidimensional warfare of today to sticks and stones? What is the plausible and rationale explanation?
The conspiracy nutjobs fill the gap and offer "an explanation" which on the surface makes sense.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
