Desecration of the shrine of Umar bin Abdul Aziz

Amir ul-mu'minin Hazrat Umar bin Abdulaziz Al-Adil (may Allah have mercy on him) who is called Umar Sani for his unparalleled tradition of justice and Islamic equality.

The shrine of Amir ul-Mu'minin is located in the town of Deir al-Sharqi in the northwestern Syrian province of Idlib. There are three tombs in this building, which belong to Amir ul-Mu'minin and his wife, as well as to the custodian of the shrine, Sheikh Abu Zakaria bin Yahya al-Mansur.

According to reports, the three graves have been dug by terrorists in Syria.

Earlier in January, militants tried to set the shrine on fire, while in August 2019, Russia bombed the shrine, damaging the compound.

Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz was the eighth caliph of the Umayyad caliphate and succeeded Sulaiman ibn' Abd al-Malik.

He ruled from 99 AH to 101 AH.

He is also called the sixth caliph Rashid because of his good character.

When I was in Damascus, I witnessed three things and I have written about this many times.

  1. The local Government of Damascus dumps garbage on the courtyard of the grave of Umar bin Abdul Aziz (RA). The garbage trucks literally dumps garbage in the courtyard, access to his grave is either not allowed or you had to walk through stinking piles of garbage to see a desecrated site.
  2. The Sahabiyyat and wives of Nabi (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) which are disregarded by Shias have their graves derelict and in bad shape, for example the grave of Sayyiduna Hafsa (RA) the daughter of Umar (RA) is in particularly bad shape
  3. The ONLY Sunni grave which is well maintained is that of Salahuddin Ayyubi (RA) and that is by contract (to Ottomans) paid for and maintained by German Government

In fact, you can tell if the dead is Sunni or Shia just by looking at the maintaince of the graves.

Assalamu 'alaykum,

are we sure it is really his grave ? Anybody got solid facts on this ?

By the way the grave of Abdullah bin Umar (RA) is situated in Makkah not in Damascus.

What should the Muslim ummah's reaction be about such a desecration of the grave? I mean, apart from expressing a general outrage?

What would your reaction be if it was a close family member's grave?

Send an army to Syria. Not only because of what they did to Umar bin Abdul Aziz RA, but also because they are killing and torturing our brothers and sisters daily.

The same that I have right now. Outrage. But even in that case I would be dissatisfied with just outrage. I would be wondering how can I physically respond against the transgressors.

Yes. Also his mother Umme Asim RA was Umar ibn al-Khattab's (RA) grand daughter.
