Couple of years ago I designed a product related to the industry I work in. I have had the product reviewed by a well known manufacturer in the industry and they put it to a panel of professionals who work in the industry. They liked the product and the manufacturer was willing to manufacturer it. However, as they do not distribute products from that particular sector of the industry the product got shelved.
Currently there are no other similar products. The product itself is nothing complicated. It's just that nobody has ever thought about it. The product is relatively simple to make and I could make it using already available parts.
I would like to move forward with the product, but before doing so I need to protect the product. I have been advised that the product itself cannot be patented as the parts are already available in different ways. But I may be able to add an aspect to the product that will give it the edge over future rival products and which will also allow me to patent that particular aspect.
I have been googling and talking to various people already. I was just wondering if there is anyone here that could advise me or maybe put me in touch with the right people.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
