NEW DELHI: Tablighi Jamaat leader Maulana Saad Kandhalvi has been booked for culpable homicide after some of the attendees of the religious congregation died due to coronavirus, police said on Wednesday. Kandhalvi had organised the religious gathering at Nizamuddin Markaz last month against the social distancing protocol imposed by the Centre to curb the spread of the deadly disease.

Indian Muslims: It is my understanding of the Indian law that Maulana is about to be arrested and CANNOT be bailed.

Bismillah.

Common sense dictates that the respected Maulana should resign his position of self-imposed leadership.

But that seems unlikley looks like the Maulana will take down the Tabligh Jamaat with him.

Over the past few days, several prominent media personalities and politicians have suggested that the primary blame for the continued growth of the COVID-19 epidemic in India lies with a Tablighi Jamaat event that was held in Delhi on March 13. The available data does not support such a speculation.

He didn't listen to maulana ibrahim devla and maulana arshad madani back in 2017 so why will he listen to anyone now. Any support to nizamuddin markaz against media backlash is taken as support for him by his followers. He'll come out as a cult hero for his followers after all this cools down.

Or maybe Hindutva lobby will use this an opportunity for the complete outlawing of Tabligh Jamaat.

Afterall any group that works for the preaching of Islam in any capacity. Is considered enemy to those people of Hindutva ideology.

They have planted the seeds against TJ only a matter of time before the calls for the complete ban. Go from being a murmur to a full blown campaign.

No doubt they will claim that TJ is a group that is secretly inciting Terrorism. As they did with Zakir Naik and his organisation.

Indian national security adviser Ajit Doval went to the nizamuddin markaz at 2AM to meet maulana saad before he went underground. Nothing will happen to the nizamuddin markaz.

Salaam.

The attitude of Tabligh Jamaat over the past decade or so against other fellow Muslims, ulama, deeni efforts and institutions - and even to its own ulama and members (both before and after the split) has been absolutely disgusting and not fit for even the lowliest, most ignorant, most uneducated muslim. I have seen some of the worst behaviour carried out by people who claim to be the best of all Muslims and sometimes been on the receiving end.

I have no doubt that if the tables were turned and some other muslim leader or organisation were being hounded by the authorities then Tablighi Jamaat would gladly throw them under the bus and revel in it. I have experienced this and seen this with my own eyes.

But regardless of our inner problems we support Tablighi Jamaat and it's ulama against the indian government as it is our Jamaat and our ulama. Whatever issue we may have with Tablighi Jamaat is our issue and non of anyone else's business.

I hope we all come together as an ummah and support our fellow ummatis regardless of our personal issues. And I hope Tablighi Jamaat will learn something and be humbled and hold their heads in shame when they see outsiders come to their aid and support.

We live in unprecedented times. It is time for the ummah to unite. Otherwise we are weak and we will get picked off one by one.

After saying that, please remember that we have hypocrites amongst us who even themselves don't know that they are hypocrites. They will seek to benefit and profit from whichever angle they can and make excuses for their behaviour to themselves. They will take advantage of your good nature and drive for unity. They will take advantage of the situation. Don't hesitate to put such people in their place and call them out for what they are.

Maharashtra's home minister has asked the same question.

"Who sent NSA Doval to Markaz and why?"

"Where did Maulana Saad abscond after meeting Doval?... where is he (Maulana Saad) now? Who is related to them (Tablighi Jamaat),"

None of our akabir ulama in India are asking such questions or even fanning such debates. Not even the Barelvi ulama.

A big Tablighi Jamaat Ijtima in Malaysia in March - 16,000 attendees - and they spread the virus there, but they had permits and followed all rules. www.scmp.com/week-asia/health-environment/article/3076219...

Only so much that can be done. I love TJ brothers but I think after all this Tablighi Jamat will become associated with coronavirus...Corona Jamaat !

In India, a country of about 1.3 billion people, only 2000 odd people are being singled out as vectors for the virus. They had travelled and assembled legally. Now they are being demonized. It looks like some people are using it as a red herring to take focus off other bigger issues.

16APRIL2020: Money Laundering Case Filed Against Tablighi Jamaat Leader Maulana Saad

www.ndtv.com/india-news/money-laundering-case-filed-again...

The police earlier on Thursday had brought charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against Maulana Saad Kandhalvi of the Tablighi Jamaat.

Maulana Saad Kandhalvi, the chief of the Islamic group Tablighi Jamaat that organised a religious congregation in Delhi last month setting off India's biggest cluster of coronavirus cases, has been charged with money laundering by the Enforcement Directorate.
