Insha'Allah, I will be interviewing an active Muslim in Colombia soon and I am gathering my questions. Growing up where I grew up and the kind of life I lived I only know two things about Colombia:

  • Medellín
  • Pablo Escobar

:lol

This brother is a Revert so if you guys have any questions about Colombia and Islam in Colombia, please help me and suggest in this thread

Is the drug issues like it’s portrayed by movies and media?

Is everyone involved in drugs and gangs?

Is killing and murders the norm their?

How much control does the government have over the countries drug and gang warfare?

Is it true that the policing and government are corrupt and are paid off by drug barrons?

How safe is Columbia for muslims as residents and tourists?

Is there a Muslim community in Columbia and how easy is it to practise?

Is it an introduced religion or has Islam always existed in the country?

Is there any positive islamic work socially and religiously being done. If so what are they?

Sorry so many negative questions but the media has a way of portraying it as a dangerous and volatile place.

Muslims make up only 0.03% of Columbia's population. How easy is it to practice Islam. Are you able to freely express your Muslim identity. Availability of halal meat when you visit eating outlets?

Just to be pedantic its Colombia.
Not Columbia.

Columbia is the spelling used in America for the District of Columbia. As in Washington D.C.

And in Canada its used for British Columbia. Which is a province.

Since we are on the topic, although its been a couple of years since I listened to it one of the most fascinating convert stories I have heard is by a Brother of Colombian heritage Mujahid Fletcher he runs the "Islam In
Spanish Tv" Youtube channel. Plus an Islamic centre in Texas thats does Dawah to Latinos.

He was living the street gang life and Allah guided him and he has guided many others. Including his father who from what I recall was a University academic before immigrating to America.

His father I believe is the first person to do the entire Audio recording of the Spanish Translation of the entire Quran.
