Under Islamic rule, the self respect and honor of non muslims was duly considered similar to that of muslims.

Quote:
You (the muslims of india) - You will lose your dunya. You will lose your wealth. You will lose your security. That is inevitable. Maybe not in your lifetime. But it will happen. We have been told this by Allah and His Rasool (saw). Ignore this at your own peril.

In fact, it has already happened to a lot of Muslims in Muslim lands.

This threat looms over Muslims in other lands also. Some of us might argue that with the rise of nationalist governments in the US, UK, and Europe, Muslims there are also in danger.

A study of Turkey's domestic and international policies provides the best practical guidance currently on how Muslims around the world should tackle their challenges.

He is a very bossy man!

And he is also being very selective in what he posts.

I agree that the situation in India might be such that the Muslims have to compromise. But compromises do not become the rule. He is posting as if it is the rule.

Regarding qasas of a muslim for the killing of a non muslim, many scholars agree it is not allowed. I do not know of the incident he quoted, but I can surmise that it was the ijtihad of hazrat Umar (rd) for whatever reason. But in general I have learnt from ulama the life of a muslim is not taken in lieu of a non muslim.

His (the OP) opinions are biased based on his situation and weakness. His weakness does not lay the ground for Islamic rulings.

If I was in his situation I would also make compromises. But i would not try to justify my compromises and try to establish them as the haq.

When Islam will prevail then we will see true haq.

Hims Governor Syeduna Umair bin Saad RA, unknowingly abused a non muslim "May Allah disgrace you". He repented and left to Madinah, met Umar RA and resigned from post of governor. He said, power made me to misbehave.

Ulama are in the best position to advise and they do so based on Quran and Sunnah. We know that the verses quoted above are not unknown to our Ulama.

I'm sure everyone who is contributing here is trying to be helpful and present a balanced view of what Islam says.

We in India will not operate outside the confines of our legal system and government framework to face our challenges. I hope this much is clear to everyone.

The top Ulama of Pakistan have denounced the TTP. This should be sufficient to understand why Indian Muslims are taking the stand they are taking.

Amr bin Aas RA followed the Islamic principle "behave according to status of a non muslim leader", and spoke to Peter York Baniamin. This changed his heart.

Justice is one thing and friendship is another.

Do the Hindu let you celebrate both Eids?
Do the Hindu celebrate Eid with you?
Do the Hindu give you gifts on Eid?
Do you give the Hindu gifts on Eid?

Do you let the Hindu celebrate Diwali and holi?
Do you celebrate with the Hindu?
Do you give the Hindu gifts on Diwali and Holi?
Do they give you gifts on their celebration?

@ssaad, can you answer these individually, they are not difficult to answer. Just yes or no for each one please. This will help determine our behaviour towards non Muslims too.

Dr Allamah Iqbal (RA) on Cowardice & Slavery

It has always been the Fatwa of the Judge of Destiny

Weakness is a Crime, always punished by Death

Islam always teaches you to treat Non-Muslims with respect, dignity and courtesy even in the middle of war and there is no difference of opinion on the matter. However, the attitude which Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has cemented in 70 years in the hearts and minds of Indian Muslims is that of subservience, slavery and cowardice.

We also understand that Indian Muslims need to operate under the framework of Indian Constitution.
