He said, “Was anybody amongst his ancestors a king?”

Heraclius asked, “Do the nobles or the poor follow him?”

I replied, “It is the poor who follow him.”

The hadith continued...........

I (Heraclius) asked you (abu sufyan) whether the rich people followed him or the poor. You replied that it was the poor who followed him. And in fact, all Apostles have been followed by this very class of people.

So the proof to pick a shaykh is "Watch who are his followers, do the rich surround the shaykh to get worldly benefits. Or Poor, the weak and pious rich (with intention of getting the benefits of deen) are surrounding him"

Salafis are always right. Sorry for the trolling.

but there has to be a middle ground, if you see some websites, having a perfect murshid or "pir-e-kamil" is highly encouraged, or even made the all in all of rectification, stories of "elders" are put way more often than basic sunnah guidelines to such an extent that if the victims of this document were to state they do not believe in following a tariqa they would be labelled XYZ.
